If your servers update when you hit the update button...you don't need it. You've already got it.

I just accessed Tanks a Lot; It seems to be working.
Watch out for ff though. It's turned on on Tanks a Lot
Dropping grenades at your feet is a nono some will be disappointed to hear lol!
Adjustments are still to be made it seems.

Had a problem recently though I've sorted it.
Just in case anyone else has the same problem I'll mention it here.
When I deleted an old player profile the screen freezes and mouse locks.
Only ctrl alt del gets me out and I have to restart the computer to re-enter windows.
And then if I try to start Battlefield it black screens and crashes.
I've found that re-installing Battlefield makes it work again.
Perhaps it is the d3d8.dll thing but re-installing seems to work

Settings can be evaded (powerstacking. disconnect/reconnect).
It's down to the players unfortunately.
Server rules are clear on team stacking but everyone would eventually be banned if they were applied stringently. Sometimes games are uneven for 'natural' reasons (people just playing 'well' for example .Better internet conditions etc.)
I would suggest single player mode for score whores lol. Keep moving though. those bots don't miss! 
I have sympathy for those with high pings who still want to join in.
I'm with Arkos' assessment! 'Some people do not want/like a fair but good battle'.
Definitely a recurring problem in 'Tanks a Lot'.
I won't embarrass anyone with screenshots here. (yet!).
Perhaps this post will help somehow.

Oh dear Frenchy's not going to like it. Must say I'm partial to a well placed mine myself. Can get both teams though so...
Could certainly do without spawn camping artillery in my opinion but I do like expacking so I'd be inclined to agree with Cicero.
Turn TK off.
The main server has TK on (which I sometimes forget sry) so the option of both is available still.
While I'm here what's with all the team stacking recently or has it always been that way and I've never noticed until now?
Doesn't make for a good game. Good stats maybe...

Having looked at gametracker forum I can see posts concerning 'floods of fake servers' and 'not functioning correctly recently'.
So I believe the stats are not to be trusted. ( I knew that!).
I don't wish to downgrade anyone else's achievements though.
I cant be the only person affected can I? It definitely happened to Test01 as well the other day.
Although a quick browse through a few players didn't show anything untoward.
BTW it is still reporting my presence in Tanks a Lot 3 hours after I left!?
I wonder how I'm getting on lol. Doubt I'll be scoring much seeing as I'm here.
Was actually only in for 5 minutes and got 1 kill! Just to see if it reports my kill eventually...
I played last night and it reported my stats correctly.

The reset has been quite enlightening. I believe it has been like this for a while.
Still love the game though especially with my new found good connectivity.

I'll keep an eye on this when I play again. If it is only kills that it tracks, I'm screwed :-)
Unfortunately it encourages spawn camping!
If you got a point for taking a base it might be better but it doesn't and lets face it taking bases can be risky.

Yeah he's right Cicero.
Eg. I scored 17 11 5 in about 20 mins last time I played.
So i should have got 11 points in 20. Ratio 0.55
However gametracker said 0 points in 210 mins!!??
This has had the effect of reducing my score ratio from 0.49 to 0.35 and my score didn't change.
I think what has happened is because I quit the game without disconnecting from the server.
I'd previously disconnected twice because my sound wasn't working...
When I tried to reconnect I got the 'CD-Key in use' label (twice) before it let me back in.
I think this is what cocked up the gametracker stats. My CD Key 'remained in use'. It doesn't account for my lost 11 points though!
So the moral to the story is 'Don't quit while still connected to server. always disconnect from server if you want to preserve your stats and want your 'stopwatch' to stop and then quit the game.
Am I wrong?
PS.
Perhaps its a punishment for 'rage quitting' lol. Although I didn't rage quit I just quit the quick way.

WTF Gametracker!
I think its relevant to this post.
Being an 'average' player little victories are important to me.
Gametracker having reset their statistics have regained a new vigour for some people to top the lists and why not?
Imagine my chagrin to realise my stats have been nullified by whatever...
Gametracker claims that I played for 3 1/2 hours scoring 0 when I actually played for 20 minutes yesterday scoring something dunno what.
Left abruptly due to hopeless stacking btw.
I was quite proud of my scoring ratio but that's f****d now.
I've noticed this before many times but always put it down to my VPN confusing things.
However I'm fortunate not to need it any more due to good connection for a month now.
It also happened to Test01 I've noticed but nobody else!
I guess its no big deal but I've found it discouraging.
Hope nobody else feels the same.

He's self adminning anyway...One rude word and he's auto-kicked and he knows it and doesn't complain.
Still think disengaging auto team balance could help..
.Then Sepp can sit in the hut to his hearts content lol and the 'chronic idlers' can do their thing.

Server half full, server half empty. Which are you?
Your PC may show a slightly different picture than the server sometimes. (Especially when you shoot that rear zooker but you die and he doesn't lol).
The server updates your PC. (Clunky register). It's the same for everyone. Dunno about mods though.
As for game balance which truly makes for a good game.
It only takes a few sensible players to team swap to sort that. Doesn't help your kill ratio but makes for a better game!
Of course only if the auto team balance allows.
If the team with the fewer players is stronger this cannot happen (Simon!).
That's why i leave Tanks a Lot sometimes when you're playing btw.
Nothing personal just a crap game. (Pounding the base or being pounded in base!) No fun!
I'm probably not alone in that thinking.
Maybe disengaging auto team balance might help?

It's not funny but whilst you have got them mine have gone (so far).

Had them for over a year and a half. Proper complained (above post) but no-one believed me. (Its your router/wiring!!!).
I guess its the luck of the draw.
Try a different internet connection if you can.
Try all the steps in my posts.
Try VPN on Tanks a lot (its allowed) see if its better. My VPN always worked and cleared con probs. (which went to show that my router/internet connection was sound).No VPN allowed on main server though.

On a more positive note I've noticed my dreaded 'con probs ' seem to have gone for about 5 days now.
Having just done a trace route out of curiosity it seems something has changed!
Much is the same but something has been added.
Four steps of twelve99,net have been added. Something to do with Worldstream.
Anyway I hope I'm not being premature but if there's a connection between this change and my new better connectivity then long may it continue.
Paul Baumer said they were working on server issues.
If so it bodes well for the future of the game.
Has anyone else noticed an improvement? Especially those with similar issues to me.
Maybe it's just my network that's improved...
Would finally like to pin the problem down but if it's gone...Who cares! lol

Most 'skilled' players move on to newer games.
Bf42 now remains for the enthusiasts and perhaps the less skilled.
It is a great game. Don't let the bullies let it die.
If you are so 'skilled', why are you still here.
Most new players are quickly deleting the game when all they do is get killed immediately.
Personally I try not to spawn camp. Depends who is playing.
Give the new players a chance.
They'll improve given a chance.
And as for mr Merlin and his b17.
Not only would he be one to discourage new players but his attempts to get people banned with his whining is ridiculous.
I and others have been victim of this.

Have just been running Pingplotter whilst connected to Simple Main server ('Pingplotter Test' pseudonym).
It runs tracert every second until i stop it creating a graph and reporting lost packets.
All my pings between hops were reasonable...
I played until i experienced my usual con probs (not long 2 mins).
Then quit 2 or 3 times to check pingplotter.
Hops were still reasonable < 30ms but dropped packets were reported from 109.236.95 225 the worldstream server which surely must be responsible for my con probs.
All hops were less than 30 ms still. No lost packets from any other hop.
I reset and restarted...Same thing after con probs in game. dropped packets from Mister 225.
(I shall refer to 109.236.95.225 as Mister 225 from now on).
I know only a few people are routed to this server, Surely there is some correlation.
Could someone hit it hard with a hammer please so I can go through 109.236.95.227 like everyone else...?
My mobile hotspot goes through ...227 but my connection, its too laggy . I want my fibre.
Ive never been to Amsterdam, Its a bit of a bucket list thing. Maybe now's the time for a visit lol.

there are a few glitchy moments now and again. A couple quite annoying. Watch out for me being killed byTest01 when frozen.
But i got him back lol and his M10!

Im actually of the same opinion Kevin.
My vid shows 3 at same time. Seargeant ahmed ,myself and Bat.
However despite my evidence pointing to a server ending with 225 (see proxyfart posting) ive received a deafening silence and hit a brick wall.
Ive decided to just let it go.
Its not really in other players interest to let us have a decent service. and while their service is good why jeopardise that by moving server.
Someone once said to me 'You get what you pay for'. They may have had a point.
There are other good games out there and other servers that work for BF1942.
I got chastised once for 'advertising' so i wont say where.
Search them out.

Yes Paul it is my internet connection but not my equipment as I have no problems with any other servers than simple.
I believe it is the routing from my ISP.
Moving the server would reroute and probably solve my problem but I wouldnt expect that to happen on my behalf lol.
Ill just have to sit my contract out. ( a year to go) and hope another ISP is better.

Just to recap...
My personal connection problem which seems common isnt O.S or caused by updates...All updates turned off . Use a game booster that turns off other 'stuff' as well. Ive only got 108 processes running and 10% cpu load during game. Cpu and bandwidth wouldnt be touched by minor interference
Definitely a net route problem which of course may never be solved without changing ISP (Again! Might get lucky next time?).
No harm in trying though.
My next port of call is my router...
Port forwarding?
Im stuck at this. Apparently I can set my router for a better direct connection to a game server so Ill look into that next. Get the right numbers in the right place. Most routers are the same?
Ive downloaded a nokia app on my phone which gives me better control over my router.
Might be onto something...Any experience of this would be received gratefully.

Well if anyones interested Ive made some progress...
The 10... servers on my tracert are 'Bogon servers! '
Apparently they are unregistered servers and ' have no place on an internet routing table as they are common sources of ddos attacks'! according to some article I just read.
My new fibre is still under three month trial so next stop my ISP!!!
Wish me luck.
Btw the 109 server turned out to be Worldstream (Simple) but not really important now.
Those with con probs I urge you to Google those IPs. You might find something interesting.

these examples are useful
The 109.236... blah blah server seems to be the common component amongst problem connections.
Seems to have high ping as well although an intermittent problem would be lucky to surface in the window afforded by the tracert run!
When the sister server 194.88.105.1 is tracert(ed) the 109 server does not get in the way!
But Ciceros trace from his hot spot (without freeze) goes there too so I dont know if its relevant.
Wonder what this server is. Worth a snoop! I guess thats all that can be done. Ill let you know...

Well that clearly shows the hop after 109... is.... SIMPLE SERVER!!!! or thereabouts (request timed out)
THAT SEEMS TO BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM SOMEHOW. Problem tracerts all get to 109... easily enough and next stop is Simple!
Whether a timed out request is the same as a connection problem when playing I wouldnt know but something seems amiss.
Correct me if im wrong.

I believe a firewall to prevent ddos or spamming attempts tp the server may be responsible.
That would account for the 'request timed out'... but could it affect certain connections?
Same result with ping.exe btw.
Resounding silence on my appeal for a working tracert but would probably yield same result. ie request timed out.
My crusade for a level 'battlefield' for all continues...
Any success would only serve to make the game more appealing to others.
