Okay I need to backoff Windows 10 and rethink my 42 issue. It maybe my laptop gaming rig.
I went from this:
Monitor 1920x1080@60ghz
I7-3840qm, 2.80ghz
G.Skill 32gb pc3-12800 (overkill for gaming but son uses for video editing)
NVidia GeForce gtx 680m 4mb
Samsung ssd 850 evo 500gb ssd - primary
to this:
MOnitor 1366 x 768
I5 - 5200u_ 2.20ghz
12.0 gb ram ddr3@798mhz
Generic IntelHDGraphics 5500 (onboard!!!!)
500gm OCZ SSD
So..I am now blaming my stupid off the shelf laptop.
Custom built to be in the mail in about 2 weeks we shall see if any difference on the battlefield!

I am not a techie. let me repeat.. I am not a techie. Matt, I am wondering, since you have tried all the BF settings...perhaps the video card itself is resetting the game settings? also I have learned that after you set the video con files, you have to also set them as 'readonly'
just a thought..but wth mine still is NOT working with new laptop....cant wait for newer laptop to see how it does...

nope...still get the blackscreen at bf startup high percentage of time. When it does work, I get the black screen at the end of the map. Task manager wont even delete the program....it will just hang.
I have to restart new laptop and hope bf works the next load. Windows 10. never had these issues with any prior versions of windows.....
yes fresh install bf from cd...even cleared folders, registry and did a fresh install of windows 10.....

2) I'll only comment on the midwest/western great lakes region. The people are known for being nice. In fact, people call it "midwestern nice" or many call it "minnesota nice" due to the movie Fargo. Its kind of a stereotype i guess. It basically means they very polite.. sometimes annoyingly so lol, they try to avoid conflict (even when its warranted), and when upset.. pretty much justf passive aggressiveness lol. The area was settled by Scandinavians and Germans so maybe it's common there too. The midwest also the most charitable, ready to volunteer, and also rated the most friendly in many polls!
If you like the outdoors, good food, bars, or just want to go somewhere new with friendly people... you can't go wrong coming to the midwest! (Just don't go down to lower MI. They're lame).

Been raining for a week; clear this week up to 64 degrees today. Mom is moving to Virginia which got 39inches snow overnight, which is more than total of seasonal snowfall there....hope she doesn't read this post (no snow where I live)!

The circumstances in December demonstrated a hack and you were banned. Additional information prevailed I was shown to be incorrect and removed the ban. Simple as that. There is no comparison between those actions and whatever else you got going at the moment. I am glad that you feel I have such power that I can influence the belief system of other admins.

My Windows 10 experience running Battlefield 1942 has been chequered.
On my desktop computer everything runs flawlessly without needing to tamper with compatibility und so weiter.
On my laptop, however, I need to create desktop shortcuts with "+restart 1 +joinServer host:port" at the end of the path. If I try to join games from the in-game browser I will get a perpetual black screen during map loads or map changes.
I will try the add server host in the link.
My bf consistently gets black screen and I have to restart laptop at end of map change...get black screen when map changes.
task manager wont kill bf that's why I have to restart laptop.
and this is from cd fresh install jan 21. still does it.
