#1 Re: News and Announcements » SiMPLE returns to roots » 2024-02-08 03:22:40

We have relayed the information about the new IP/server on our Discord and forum. We are glad to see SiMPLE back up and running!

#2 Re: Feedback » SiMPLE is dying quickly now » 2023-09-20 00:15:30

Some interesting posts in this thread. The game is now 21 years old and dying even faster, so all remaining communities are doing their very best to try to hang onto players who are rapidly moving on to newer games. (Myself included - I am still a semi-active admin but I don't really play the game anymore)

Funny to read that some players find hit regs are better on Moon. We get the exact opposite complaint from players who say their ping/hitreg is ass on Moon but very good on Simple. I guess there is no such thing as a perfect network connection.

Now it is just down to 2 "24/7" servers. Just 3 years ago, there were 4-5 of them. That said, TGE is still chugging along fine with a regular crowd of 10-15 players most nights, the Simple RTR/SW and Aberdeen servers seem populated, and the US based DC server (EA117) still gets peaks of 15 players or so during US evenings.

And finally, trolls/disrupters aren't welcome on Moon just as they aren't welcome on Simple. Someone said it's the same people getting banned in both servers and this is 100% true. They bounce between servers as soon as they're banned on one they go to the other. Permanent bans just aren't handed out as easily as they used to be these days due to the huge reduction in player numbers.

Some of that may be from joining late in the map, and want the full experience.

- This is a nice summary of the average BF1942 player in 2021 lmao

#6 Re: Videos and Screenshots » modded bots on RtR+SW server » 2021-09-15 19:03:06

Bots are a necessary evil for servers outside of the Simple main server simply due to population. Moon for example simply doesn’t have the population to remove bots entirely. Same with TGE. I imagine similar story at Simple RTR, there are periods of 2-8 population which makes it difficult to sustain without bots.

The compromise we have made is to use a script to automatically turn off the bots once the server reaches a certain population (this threshold is map dependent and configurable). This allows the server to have bots when population is low-medium and not have them get in the way of players when there is a good population. Similarly, we increase the number of bots during the US overnight hours when the server normally sits at below 10 players.

#7 Re: BF1942 Discussion » What about making Arkos Server to Simple's El Alamein CTF 24/7? » 2021-08-30 18:01:18

There's already a 24/7 El Alamein CTF server (HKHP). It's not very populated usually but sometimes people will get on.

MoonGamers also runs a 24/7 CTF server, mostly only gets populated during the weekend.

#8 Re: BF1942 Discussion » BF1942's 20th Anniversary » 2021-08-22 17:02:03

Most new players these days seem to love team killing, stealing vehicles and wounding teammates, TK for planes and general disruptive behavior.

#9 Re: Off-Topic » Battlefield 2042 » 2021-07-23 15:34:17

It looks good but still a far cry from real dedicated servers and actual serverside modding capability.

#10 Re: BF1942 Discussion » What happened to the AX server » 2021-06-29 15:31:49

It was not just the death bubbles; trolls and teamkillers (not to mention hackers) have free rein there and there are no admins to deal with them.

#11 Re: BF1942 Discussion » What happened to the AX server » 2021-06-15 16:01:57

AX has seen a sharp decline in population over the last 2 months or so.

#12 Re: BF1942 Discussion » omaha beach balance » 2021-06-12 17:16:08

Omaha is an art. Naval artillery with scout support is critical for the Allies. Use it to take out the defguns and the tanks - then infantry can push up. If the tanks are too hard to kill then you need Engineers and Anti-Tank making suicide runs up the ramps to overwhelm them while they repair. If there's only one tank, the infantry can just ignore it and push up the other ramp (obviously it relies on the Defguns being dead)

The zook loop at 3:09, pure fan service. Can't believe they put that in there XD

Hi wasabi, is BF1942 still popular among Japanese players? I remember there were a lot of funny BF1942 videos from Japanese clans back in the day.

FHSW on Kabu.server is very popular, their server fills up to 70+ players during weekend evenings.  I don't live in Japan though so I don't really play there.

Don't see that many vanilla players anymore.

Can anyone tell me how the 1-nade mod is done? I'd love to do that on some of our maps but I've always had the map crash when I try.

#17 Re: Server Ban Appeals » Banned :(((( » 2021-06-10 17:22:48

To be clear, you ARE allowed to bomb and camp enemy mains in CTF mode, but it's not allowed in CQ mode. Most servers have this rule.

For base attackers, an auto "kill" would help a lot when there no admins.  Wouldn't need a ban there.

I'd like to add a team death bubble surrounding the plane spawns (not entire runway)..
- Bring a jeep to the planes, you auto die.  SiMPLE.

We have baserape autokill/autokick and taxi autokill on MoonGamers and indeed it helps a lot. There are some downsides like false positives and players rage-quitting when they get killed (because they don't know / care about the rules) but the positives massively outweigh the negatives.

#19 Re: BF1942 Discussion » TKs and baseraping » 2021-06-09 00:43:52

We have been getting more TK and trolling on Moon also. Seems the newer players coming into the game recently love to TK, troll, and grief.

#21 Re: Technical Help » Moongamers website is down » 2021-02-17 21:57:41

Correct, the website has been down since the DDoS attacks and we haven't had the time to properly restore it yet.

Server is up and running 24/7 and you can also join the Discord at http://discord.gg/s7Q7EZ6

#22 Re: BF1942 Discussion » Engi Rifles » 2021-02-01 22:16:56

There is something satisfying about getting a headshot with the No4 / K98.

Nice, is it an infantry only server? If not, are some maps infantry only?

The GameTracker link you provided doesn't work btw.

Not exclusively infantry-only, but Berlin / Stalingard are infantry-focused (no nades/tanks on Berlin, no nades/expack/tanks on Stalingrad). Might tweak the other maps if it picks up and there is demand.

#25 Re: BF1942 Events » Galactic Conquest MOD Event : Dec 5th @ 4pm est » 2020-12-02 20:59:59

Just a suggestion, put the server name & IP prominently in the center so it's easy to see. Right now it's kind of hard to read.

#26 Re: BF1942 Discussion » A new negative behavior on the servers sadly. » 2020-11-18 22:32:40

I'll usually switch to the losing side in any game. A stomp is a boring for both sides. Does anyone else do this?

@Wasabi Yes, it is.  I remember running the beach with you, Lin, Pepe etc  Those were fun times :-)  From 04-06 it was Wagoogies, Bugs and Moongamers for some Omaha fix.  Covid has brought me back.

Damn, nice to see you back. I definitely picked up some sniping moves from you back in the day. Stop by the Moon server sometime, we don't run Omaha that much anymore but there's a decent crowd in during the weekends.

You the same Butcher who used to play on Moon Omaha in like 2006?

People who prioritize score over anything else and have zero teamwork or sense of fun / fairness. Team stacking for one.
