nice. how much did you paid for this refrigerator?
My final fully compatible XP rig. Bought the first parts two years ago when there was a chance they’d disappear from the market soon. Have made big sacrifices in order to have near-full XP drivers (would’ve bought Haswell or Skylake otherwise). Ivy Bridge is the last platform with official XP support. I even bought two extra i7-3770k’s and the top z77 boards from Asus, Asrock too (yes, very sick and disturbing :-/ ) just to be sure I’ll be able to have an XP platform forever. Five SSds, one for each OS from XP to 10.
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7
i7-3770K
G.Skill TridentX Series 4 x 8 GB 2400 mhz
Corsair AX860
Asus Xonar Phoebus Solo
5 x Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB
4 + 8 TB HDD
No graphics card yet, will await Nvidia Pascal to see if XP drivers will be available, if not, Geforce 970/980.
This is what happens when silly nerds spend too much time at home.

WHY
Because full XP compatibility on an almost modern rig, rocks in 2015+ :-}
I see a mess with a lot of wires which takes a lot of space on the work table.
Then I see a lot of HDD space which probably gives you possibillity to make a digital mess in your storage.
Funny, how winXp is now considered oldschool and cool
No offends.

you lucky i searched whole market here to buy i7-3770k but it was out of stock (((((((( i have i7-2600k is the diff is big?
3770k is only about 8% faster than 2600k
6700k is about 32% faster than 3770k, so no major disaster for me
yes, most people get provoked when somebody says, that sometimes, old is better than new
yes, most people get provoked when somebody says, that sometimes, old is better than new
I'm not provoked. Sometimes I prefer some "old" things to new too. I'm just curious why winXp.
I was very sceptic to use new Windows software when I was on Xp. It was quite long. After changing to Win7 I just got a better interface. Everything seems to work fine. But then again I'm a simple user ==> netsurfing, a bit gaming, music and video editing.
I'm just curious why winXp.
Per default and with minor tweaks, XP has the best file explorer and search in my opinion, you can get close with Classic Shell in Vista and later, but not fully. The overall experience with XP anno 2015 is quite good regarding speed, security, etc. User Interfaces, ease of use and familiarity means a lot to me, I generally hate to be forced to use new stuff when the old is just as good or better. I like running/testing old games/apps and comparing win versions. Been using XP for almost 15 years, don’t want to give it up just because Microsoft tries to kill it off, and lie about almost everything imaginable, such as all new windows are always better than the previous, etc.
it's finally finished!

Would be so much cooler if the front panel was also in white color and had a small blue sticker. I will repaint my pc soon probably too.

I played some time from a laptop and I must say that aftwer a week you get used to this crappy keyboard and it becomes nice.
thinking of xp fanatic's post, here, i felt that i need to do a similar thing, ( bf1942 works best on xp , almost no lag - YES YOU READ WELL, ALMOST NO LAG on simple ).
just reinstalled it on my pc, ( it s quite obsolete ), i have an Core quad Q8300, on a MSI g41 chipset, with 4 GB DDR2 PC6400, and a Kingston 64 GB SSD + WD Caviar Black 1TB.
It works like a rocket, and i am not thinking of buying myself a new pc, since bf42 is the maximum i ll ever need in gaming graphics.

don't forget to create an "xp.reg" file, with the following code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
That way you will still get updates for your system, because Microsoft promissed to supply updates for POS systems until 2019.
Cheers
XP ROCKS !!!!!!
XP ROCKS !!!!!!
Didn't know you like necrophilia. Just leave this obsolete operating system, let it rest in peace.

Windows XP until 2019? Sounds good.
Nameless, let's do this!
Anyone can confirm that ? No way to 2019...
i tested bf1942 in win xp and in 7 with a 3770k and geforce 970, frames per second were on average about 40 % higher in xp ....
tested a lot of other games, those released before 2004 generally had higher fps than in w7
that 2019 update trick is meant for xp embedded, researched it a bit and there seemed to be doubt as to how it'd affect xp pro/home ... may/may not screw up things
last update for my xp was april 2014 and i've had no problems since, gonna run it to 2020 or later, i've never even had antivirus running, and mostly run "insecure" firefox 19
most people sadly believe all the bs security scare-campaigns
win 8.1 / 10 is crap imo, those are the truly obsolete os'es from a logical perspective, clearly inspired by smartphones / tablets, and things will go even more downhill for microsoft/windows in the future
Anyone can confirm that ? No way to 2019...
It's possible to prolong the support of Windows XP until April, 2019. You need to edit the system registry to get updates for Windows Embedded POSReady. Read George's comment if you want to do it, but in my opinion, it's useless. It's just the way to prolong the support of the registers and ATMs over the world, lots of them are still running Windows XP. It's quite useless for home users.
true, true, and true.
it wont screw the system, no worries, i already installed it on several machines with xp pro sp3, and it works like a charm.
xp is not cpu heavy, its services are easy to handle ( enable/disable), in fact, you can make your xp even faster, if you turn off many useless services, and together with some solid av , you shouldn't worry, still.
w8.1 and w10 , i wont even comment, crap crap crap crap !!!
and if you are worried about security, no problem, make a 100 $ rig, install w2008 server onto it, create a domain, make a proxy to link it with your xp, of course , install a brutal AV on w2008 server computer, and no need to worry about anything,it will filter everything for you. you can even filter what you want on that machine, so, no porn, or yes porn on your xp .... the story can go on and on and on....

I am using Linux with an XP theme, does that count?
