Any XP lovers, haters out there?
----------------------- Fun XP info -----------------------
XP was the top OS in the world for almost ten years.
Some XP 32-bit limitations - may not be 100% correct:
- 2 TB storage limit. Can be surpassed by using USB, IDE, GPT, special drivers.
- SSDs: No TRIM support. TRIM-like actions can be run manually by some SSD software
- 4 GB RAM limit. May be surpassed using modded kernels, etc.
- No DirectX 10 and later support. DX10 may be possible to some degree with hacks. https://www.raymond.cc/blog/easily-inst … windows-xp
- No security updates since April 2014. The XP Embedded trick may be a proper substitute.
- No official chipset drivers for Haswell, Skylake, and some of the onboard devices. The drivers are available for at least Haswell though.
- GeForce 900 models only partially supported, and just in few driver versions. Radeon 300 series not supported.
- Creative soundcards dropped XP support around 2009 or so.
Some apps have reduced functionality, examples:
- Java 7 is last XP compatible version.
- Google Earth ; no street view blue lines.
