I have done it a gazillion times since 21.00 CET ... without master server fix i get no server list

for those who claim they still see the old (dead) master server, check if the line:

YOU ARE ON NEW MASTER

appears

(some times that line don't appear, try doing 10 full updates or so)

If it appears then it's obviously the new master list, and you've applied something to your bf1942 game or system (and maybe forgotten that you did)

Still works for me, I pressed update a dozen times just to make sure. Never installed any gamespy patches/fixes so not sure whats up. Maybe it is down in europe based on you guys being 6+ hours ahead of us time wise, and will go down for u.s. players tomorrow?

Update does not work, but if you quit the game and go back to internet, the servers on there still scan normally.

I don't have master fix thing and i still got all the servers 3hrs ago. Didn't look like any servers were missing.

In-game server list update via master.gamespy.com stopped working for me today. (First noticed 1:30am UTC 26JUL2014.) Waiting to see if it's temporary / while they move hardware or something, or finally "the real shutdown".

that master bf1942 is using isn't completely dead, it just returns empty list

Those that affirm in-game server browser still works, please read again carefully ghost of's posts. If you see a server entry called "YOU ARE ON NEW MASTER", then either you changed your Windows host file or are using a modified BF1942 executable, and you are querying master.bf1942.sk to retrieve the list of BF1942 servers.

It's a positive thing, it does not freeze the game, for those players who do not have it patched.

BF1942 just got hit by the hammer

was watching global population and at around 17:45 CET today (one hour ago) it just plummeted within 15 minutes

looks like the old master still was active in some odd way, but now got shut down completely

my guess is that most people could access their favorites last 20 hours after the shutdown, but now get the freeze and dont know what to do about it

usual global population right now would be around 475, but it currently is 250

If I press update it does nothing not even a freeze, and I can still see a server list the refresh also seems to work

this shutdown fucked up everything, AX server is only 27players.. cant believe that, it used to be full all the time and refreshing like crazy to enter the server.

It's very bad, did not expect such a huge drop in BF1942 population. This means most players did not patch their game, despite all warnings made.
master.gamespy.com is down, it no longer replies to ping packets.

I think the best thing now that should be done to minimize "damage" is announce in a clear way (main page of all BF1942 websites) to download hosts patcher or BF1942 gamespy patch, since those are the most simple solutions. Just one single line of text, because most players don't bother to read details or don't understand them.
