Re: New HDD

Good decision.

I would prefere 22" IPS 144+ Hz WQHD Monitor or 20".

Sadly there is not even a 24" IPS 144+ Hz Monitor.

Atm i have a 24" TN Gsync WQHD, which is not bad, but still to big for me and a 27" IPS Gsync WQHD.

I have a 27" Dell IPS monitor hooked up to my laptop and love it. I think I'll probably get a 27" IPS for my PC too smile

You won't believe it, but i made a place for an old PC with CRT.

Sadly i gave my 24" 16:9 CRT's into Recycle, but i have still an Eizo 21" and a 22" Belinea.

Yeah big_smile I tested once my old 17 inch CRT monitor (which is 21 yrs old or even older). I was amazed that I could set it to 120Hz* on such an old piece of hardware and it wasn't even one of the high-end when it comes to CRT monitors, more like low-end smile And this beautiful color reproducition... dang smile Maybe VA or OLED can get near this.

*Tbh while 640x480 resolution was set tongue But still nice smile

I played usually on my 21" 4:3 Monitor at 1600x1024 or 1600:1000 @100 Hz or 1920x1200@85Hz

(Custom Resolution made via nVidia ControlPanel, then manually adjust angle).

With my 24" Sony GDM FW900 i played also 1600x1024@100, 1920x1200@85 or 2304 x 1440 @ 80Hz

...

Re: New HDD

.

waiting some time to buy hardware, may be advantageous

the future is usually uncertain, but heres my prediction for next-gen amd desktop cpus :

may come as soon as 8-10 months from now

- tsmc 5 nm, 50+ % transistor increase
- higher clock frequencies due to 5nm
- 16 cores in one chip, instead of the current 8
- +10 % ipc
- new am5 chipset
- ddr5 support
- maybe pci express 5.0 (will probably first come in 2022)
- other improvements

the x86 architecture will likely be partially or fully extinct by the end of this decade, due to arm dominance. it saddens me a bit to see this tendency
