Lately I just wondered which OS do most of players use. There!s no secret that the game runs better, more smoothly on older ones.
Also talked with some players already, some well known and regulars. When I first switched from w7 to w10 sometimes I felt laggs at inf mostly recognizable and it never felt the same, although Ive been using W10 for quite some time. I think I got used to it, but then I see some players' videos from inf and their game is so smooth, just on the diff. level. Some say W10 is pretty crap for this old game, I believe they are not really far from the truth, so. Doesnt matter what u prefer in game (tanks etc.), just fill the poll or comment below Thanks.
Sorry if I made any mistakes.

I've switched to w10.
And I can no-longer open 10 diff apps in the background without the game crashing like in w7.
Sometimes, even a simple alt-tab crashes the game lol.
I've selected "Other one" because I couldn't decide myself if I should choose win 7 or 10
I'm using both of them, I mean, win 7 is on pc and 10 is on laptop.
To be honest, I really can't see difference between these systems in BF1942 and the game runs flawessly without any major problems, except lags due to my ugly internet . I don't even have alt+tab problem on windows 10, but I think, it's because I really care and maintain system what I'm using
Anyway I agree what you wrote K88 about older systems. I remember I wrote something similar about it:
There is no secret here that games usually work best on the hardware and operating system they were originally developed for Also, newer systems may not contain those features that were available in older systems or may emulate which can have a negative impact on performance. Additionaly newer hardware like new amd or nvidia gpus can produce some graphics artifacts on older game like this or even not display proper graphics at all. For example, "no crosshair" problem on new amd gpus.
And about problems on the new hardware I also posted some in-game screenshots in this thread:
https://team-simple.org/forum/viewtopic … 32#p161132
I usually played vanilla bf1942 and mods on Ubuntu 12.04 through Wine and for the most part never had any issues except:
* Fast user switching (aka Alt+Tab) will never work in fullscreen mode, though there's a walk-around on that through winecfg by forcing the game in windowed mode; and...
* Punkbuster doesn't work if you want to join a PB-enabled servers for obvious reason.

we're such a homogenous group here.. we need diversity.
Let's invite millions of other OS', so we can therefore replace ourselves - also known as genocide ourselves.
i would like to play this game on my raspberry pi 3 model B (raspberry os), (it can run quake III).
I've been playing Retro Bowl College on my laptop running Windows 11, and it's been an impeccable experience. The game runs smoothly and the interface seems even more vibrant on the larger screen.
I've always enjoyed Retro Bowl, but this college version takes it up a notch.
I use a Windows 11 machine when playing. Why was 11 not among the choices?
I think I see why 11 wasn't a choice. I didn't check how old this question was before answering...
Win 11 so bugged for bf
Win 11 so bugged for bf
Works for me just fine.
The only 2 bugs I encountered on win 11 is that
-you can't change the keyboard layout mid game (from typing EN to RU for example)
-sometimes when the game is folded (alt-tabbed), it can crash in a few minutes

On 10 it's same, and sometimes game crashes instantly after Alt+Tab. Layout issue can be solved with switcher software
Windows 11 works flawlessly with BF42 so far
.
don't forget to recommend :
- drauger os linux
- apple watch os
- tesla os for model 3
and similars, as the secret key to bf42 regs
My friend can't download to win11 bf42, requires some files (binkw.dll like this) , 11 pro in my opinion is not for bf , I played at my brother 's dacha , he has 11 wines , a lot of bugshots on tanks, I thought he had better , but my stable win7 is still very very good
Can u send me for 11win bf files?
Does it require some of diff?

. не забудьте порекомендовать: - drauger os linux - Apple Watch OS - Тесла Ос для модели 3 и тому подобное, как секретный ключ к bf42 regs
Regs on 11win more worster than in win7…

I don't know, it lagged hard for me, the keyboard even lagged a couple of times, so the buttons weren't pressed and the mouse (I don't know if it's related to bf), but I checked for example in the metro exodus, everything is stable
I tell you it's working fine, not worse than win 7 . You probably installed win11 badly or shitty drivers or smth wasn't good. It works and you can install standard bf42 or dl here from forum.
I use this version:

Layout issue can be solved with switcher software
Wuuut? What is the name of that magic tool?

When alt/tab on win 10 the bf42.exe goes down to 0% cpu and short after the game goes kaputt, so i think it might be some windows powersaving thing, i have googled and looked around in windows settings, but i cant find anything usefull.
Do not find , you will not find, the last more or less barely as a suitable OS version was win 8 all that will be above it is dungass
Punto Switcher or any other software for switching layout
Tried it now. Doesn't work for me. How do you set it up?
Hotkeys don't work in bf42, automatic switch also.

Works for me with right Ctrl
Ok seem like it doesn't work on win 11, even with compatibility set on both to win 7
