As i said.

If the Germans would have had Zeros, BoB would have been different.

The Range and maneuverability  from the zeros was just great in the first 2-3 years of WW2. Also the faster and longer climbing due the low weight.

...

Interesting...

Was there some kind of tentative to bring the blueprints of Zero to Germany?

Nono, ... i just said that, because the Bf's had a low range.

After reaching the coast of england the BF's had fuel for just another 30 Minutes. But they had to protect the bombers inside the island and when they reached the targets they could fight some minutes before they had to turn back and leave the bombers allone.

Maybe, they sent a Tiger for reverse engineering to Japan that was promptly spotted, stalked and sunk by a submarine en route, i've never heard the same for the Zero to Germany though

Best ww2 fighter plane...Grumman Hellcat

Best k/d ratio, most pilots with ace status.

Re: Doubt about best plane of WW2 in general (excluding jets).

Advice for F6F Pilots:

"When trials were flown against a captured A6M5 model Zero, they showed that the Hellcat was faster at all altitudes. The F6F out-climbed the Zero marginally above 14,000 ft (4,300 m) and rolled faster at speeds above 235 mph (378 km/h). The Japanese fighter could out-turn its American opponent with ease at low speed and enjoyed a slightly better rate of climb below 14,000 ft (4,300 m). The trials report concluded:

Do not dogfight with a Zero 52. Do not try to follow a loop or half-roll with a pull-through. When attacking, use your superior power and high speed performance to engage at the most favourable moment. To evade a Zero 52 on your tail, roll and dive away into a high speed turn.[40]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_F6F_Hellcat

It's difficult to say which one was the best. The best at which time (year of the war) in which situation?

Ofc they improved the vehicles, because they knew the Zero and the BF109-E were superior in the first 3 years and they had the ressources to manage it.

The Illushin got the Motor from the Mig3, and after WW2 GB sold 9 Jet engines to the russians for the Mig-15 and soon later the Reds brought the Mig-19 and then the Mig-21, a hell of a Jet smile

I found another (post-WW2 era) soviet aircraft named "Yakolev Yak-11", which looks a lot like Japanese Zero.

Re: Doubt about best plane of WW2 in general (excluding jets).

I think the Focke Wulf 190 should have been included as it is technically superior to most of the planes mentioned. And we can't have Stukas (bombers) being compared to fighter aircraft. If they are then why not give the DC10 which never carried a weapon a mention.

Re: Doubt about best plane of WW2 in general (excluding jets).

First I thought this is about planes in the game.
But then why is there Yak-3? The most mass produced soviet plane was Yak-9 and therefore most recognisable.
Both Yak-9 and Yak-3 were the so to say parallel projects and a continuation of previously developed Yak-1.

Generally Yaks were most successful soviet fighters.

But back to these "debates".
This is a question that has no answer.
All these planes had their influence in the war history. Stuka was ideal for bombing ground targets when Germany had air supremacy but later it had become outdated.
Talking about fighters, even soviet La-5 which was weaker comparing to later BF-109 modifications, was showing impressive results in good hands.
Soviet ace Ivan Kojedub was flying exactly on La-5.
All depends on battlefield conditions, strategy and tactics of all sides etc., etc.

Re: Doubt about best plane of WW2 in general (excluding jets).

I just voted 109 from the list and my reason is that the top fighter Aces of the war flew 109's, so regardless of performance differences between each of the planes the 109 must be the clear winner of best among the list because of it's service record.

Re: Doubt about best plane of WW2 in general (excluding jets).

Or the last variant of the fw 190 family, the ta152 in my opinion hands down the best piston fighter of the war
Or at least the best german, that thing looked like come from the future. 760km/h at 13500m, and could outturn a mustang or a spitfire
Maybe not the best plane in terms of kill numbers, since entered very late and on very low numbers, but i have little doubt that any WW2 piston fighter plane could beat this beast at a 1vs1 in mid-high altitude for the sole capabilities of it. I mean, this plane outruned a tempest squadron in their territory(low alt)
Also a damn sexy plane and my personal favorite

the  H1 variant is good! 1 30mm  mk108 cannon and 2x 20mm
but C3 is much heavier and armored and have mk 103  30mm that can kill tanks, + 3x20mm canons
