ive expected this moment for 7½ years, since ssk put up his unofficial master server back in the summer of 2014. b42 was in big trouble then, and is now again
i predicted ssk would do this shutdown sometime in 2022, because, after he lost all his population back in spring 2021, he probably was 95 % sure that it never would come back, but waited one last time for the high pop winter season, to see if any miracles would occur. they didnt, so he finally shut ax (highly likely permanently) down
this is probably the end for bf1942, and reasonable population in the two largest servers remaining; simple and moongamers. i doubt that the new-new alternate master server will make a difference unless its possible to make it work from inside b42 clients without these having to change/do anything
editing hosts files is not a good solution on a global bf1942 scale, since the vast majority dont know how to, and wont do that
get ready for real low population, and many players finally ditching this game for good, after 20 years

When ping (70 is quite good) doesnt matter but regs and smooth play dont get in the way. Actually I rather have a 140 ping and stable connection over a 38 ping (max I ever had) and bad conn any day.

this is probably also the highest ever 42-minute philly score in simple, by anybody
as usual, it was a semi-crappy round by me. i was on track to reach 180-190, but poor regs, inconsistent mouse, braindead ape teammates who teamkilled me 7 times, and took wrong flags at wrong times, foiled my game
i was more or less inactive half the time in this round, transporting or searching for foes, and most of my kills came in hyperbursts
220+ should be possible

If moving the SiMPLE servers to a new IP/location is possible, like it’s been done 3-4 times over a decade, and the population has almost fully regenerated, then it shows that even the most inexperienced BF1942 newcomers eventually will learn basic technicalities, and find a way to play in SiMPLE.
I think the same would be true if RTR/SW was set in main SiMPLE, like every Saturday or Sunday for x amount of time. The numbers would eventually rise.
As an added bonus, all those who dislike more than 60 slots will get low player numbers.
Making a RTR/SW test now, is a perfect time, since it’s high population season, and aX is no longer active.

You're the one who's deeply ********, if you think that only 10% of the Simple population has RTR/SW installed. Why are your estimates always way off, and why are you generally so intellectually deprived and just plain dumb?
Like said, I believe it's close to 50%, If that's correct, then it will result in around 40-50 players, on a February Sunday around 20:00 CET when player numbers peak. That would be pretty good. Remember, it could be a one-time experiment.

How about running RTR/SW maps in the main server at least once .... The uppermost manager of Simple has likely thought of this before, but I don’t think it has been attempted.
Population is currently high, RTR/SW could be set for like 1-2 hours in a weekend in primetime, just once as a test, to see how it fares.

SiMPLE, ten minutes ago, one of my highest berlin scores.
Was actually close to disconnecting. I’m testing a trillion new hardware setups and software settings every day, and have been doing it for months. Most of them result in terribly poor damage output. Regs, delay, and mouse control were so bad in this round, that rebooting would’ve been a better option, but saw that my score was ok, so I pulled through.
With an optimal setup and circumstances, 220-240 in a 42 min. Berlin round should be possible.

SiMPLE was yesterday set to 84 slots again. I'm aware that these additional slots might just be a technical test, and that 72 could be set again. There may be issues with high slot settings that I don't know of, which probably take many hours to analyze and try to sort out.
Thumbs up the head admin, it's the right choice. Some people only play a few hours per week in primetime, and the server is often full at 72. 84 will make things easier.
I still think more than 84 slots should be tried.
