Aberdeen on USA server, current game. As soon as I joined the game "ARTUR FREITAS-ISIS CREW" started team wounding me. Then he dropped a grenade and switched sides before it killed me to get more points without getting a TK, which I consider cheating. Not to mention his name should be offensive to anyone from civilized parts of the world.
I don't remember seeing that name before. He may have been smurfing, because the name was already gone when I went back to the game right after I posted above. IP addresses in the logs might reveal more if anyone wants to track him. It was only a short disruption, but it seemed pretty blatant given the situation, i.e. very start of the game far from any enemy units with the shots spaced well apart.
Just started a new game going on right now on Wake Island on USA server, and Tapferer Toaster immediately started shooting me standing on carrier deck. Shot several times over about 10-15 seconds, so no way it's not intentional.
I watched last night, I think about 01:00 EST to about 01:30 EST; I only looked at the clock after I came back in. We had very clear skies, but some light pollution from the neighbors, plus I let some tree branches block part of the sky so I could avoid some of the light pollution. I had a pretty good view of the part of the sky I think I needed to watch, though. The clear skies made it nice because I could look at the stars while I was waiting to see meteors.
Toward the beginning I saw a fireball, then a little later I think I saw a streak out of the corner of my eye. Later I saw another streak, then some time after I saw I think a fireball, but what struck me about this last one was how far across the sky it went.
Thanks for letting us know!
I know it was a comedy show, but I think the end of this final episode is appropriate to commemorate today.
Found my Logitech M525 while cleaning behind the desk today. I tried it a couple of games tonight and think I can get used to playing with it.
shouldnt this go in the report abuse topic?
It's just a general observation about some players who seem to enjoy doing this. I didn't take down any names; just wanted to hear what people thought about it.
There is another game some people like to play during BF1942 sessions. I'm not sure why this game is fun, but maybe it's kind of like the game a baby plays with you, dropping something over and over again just to see you pick it up. I think the maturity level is about the same.
So there you are, minding your own business, when all of a sudden, "POP!" you're hit, followed by the "Hey!" or "Idiot!" sound effect. What the hell? But no matter, a medic dutifully runs up to you, "squeesh squeesh squeesh," and you're healed back to full strength. You start on your way again, when "RATATATTAT!" and you're wounded again. A medic runs up to you and patches you up again. By this time you may have figured out that the medic who has been healing you is also the idiot having fun shooting at you.
Anyone run into this guy?
Hey, thanks for the compliments, guys!
changed my chute from 9 key to t key so I can bail at will without hunting for that damn number key....
Hmm, does that have the added bonus of preventing unwanted tooltip activation?
I noticed this player on a few games on the USA server tonight, most recently on Market Garden, which ended about half an hour ago (about 23:55 EST), and also a couple of games earlier on Kharkov and Stalingrad. As it happened, all three games he was Axis and I was Allied. I kept spotting him trying to base snipe, but I don't know how successful he was at that because I kept killing him. At the end he intentionally TKed me, probably after switching sides for that purpose,
On Stalingrad I caught him a couple of times on top of the above-ground pipes by the wall at the edge of the Allied uncapturable base aiming into it with a sniper rifle. I killed him both times. Then on Kharkov I caught him a time or two bailing over or driving through the Allied main base, and one time I killed him next to the Allied uncap when he was once again pointing a sniper rifle into it. I remember telling him he needed to stop trying to base snipe.
Finally near the end of a game on Market Garden he was sniping (legally) about a third of the way across the steel bridge and got me once, so I decided to switch to the sniper kit and got him a couple of times at his spot on the bridge. Then in the last minute I was near the flag on the Allied side of the steel bridge, and was surprised to be TKed by him. I guess he was pissed off at me, so he figured it would be easier just to switch sides and TK me. When this happened I checked the roster and he had -6 points, so he must have TKed someone else too. Right after that, a couple of seconds before the game ended, he said something like "phuk you capt blackadder," so I'm sure it was intentional.
As I mentioned in my original post, I've seen SgtBilko or a similar name in games before the incident I reported, and never noticed any problems. I think it's possible that it was someone else using that name during the incident, but I'll leave that up to the admins to determine.

Cat in pain...how on earth do you get blown up by your own bomb?
Usually it's when attacking an AA gun and drop my bomb near the ground just as the AA has damaged my plane down to almost no HP bars. At that point bailing is kind of a reflex action, but ends up pretty much the same as bailing too low with the added bonus of -3 points.
Chutes wont open at X altitude no matter how many times you press the button.
Especially when I'm hitting "8" instead of "9!"
I play on a Forgotten Hope (BF1942 mod) server with a rule against bailing without a chute, because they have special "Pilot" kits that are the only way to get a chute (the only weapons in that kit are a pistol and maybe a knife). I can't think any case on standard games that a pilot wouldn't have a chute, though.
I do agree some pilots might bail without hope of survival, out of spite. However, there are reasons a pilot might bail to his death unintentionally, and I can give examples of them happening to me. I've bailed when I didn't realize I was too close to the ground, and also have bailed and been killed by my own bomb. And sometimes my chute just wouldn't open, no matter how many times I hit the "8" key .
You could go along the lines of "i10n" == "localization" and "i18n" == "internationalization." So for "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX52" you could use "X29452," or maybe if that's too awkward having the two numbers mash up against one another, how about "X293X52?"
I just posted the following on a separate thread, but MrLeo seems to have posted first so I deleted my thread and will just add it on here:
Playing Kursk on USA server, game ending just before 22:50 EDT. I kept hearing people complaining about a player named sss-a who was attacking the Axis (my team's) main base. I didn't actually see it myself until late in the game, when I chased a player named Darvin or something who decided to base attack too, so I ended up at my own main with about a minute to go. At that point I saw sss-a bomb someone on our main, and then with a few seconds to go he came back and bombed me too on the main. With all the complaints I heard about him and my own experience late in the game he may deserve a ban, especially since he ended up with the high score by doing this.
I was playing Gazala on the USA server about 21:10 EDT tonight. A player with a name like "AAACOOUE EOAD," except all the characters in the name had various accent marks, was TKing me intentionally. I had been shot at by AA fire (from the other team) in the "secret" NW airbase before crashing, so after I re-spawned I went back to check it out.
I drove up to the AA gun, but it had already been destroyed and the enemy player was gone, so I decided to take the B-17 that was on the runway. As I was running down the hill toward the B-17 AAACOOUE EOAD drove up the runway in a tank and tried to get the B-17 too, but I was there first. As I was taking off he started shooting me with his machine gun, then finished me off with his main gun for the TK.
Then after I re-spawned again at the Axis main I was driving back toward the NW airbase, and saw AAACOOUE EOAD flying toward me in a Spitfire, and he bombed me for another TK.
In my opinion he deserves a ban.
I voted 3olan, because it's the only one I don't think I've ever played. You left out Pixel-Fighter, which hosts Forgotten Hope games. It dies down pretty early in the evening USA time, but it can still get more than 40 players.
Thanks everyone for your replies. Since other people have seen this too I'm just going to chalk it up to a bug in either BF1942.EXE or the server (software, not necessarily the Simple server; I may have seen this playing on other servers as well). I will say that if it's a server bug it seems to be one that affects only one person at a time, because when I've brought it up in chat while it is happening I never hear anyone else saying they have the problem too.
Again, I don't think it's my hardware or anything else running on my computer, since I can kind of control it once it starts (if I don't mind staying in a vehicle or dying). And it is different than network problems. With network issues you tend to get video that is jumpy and sometimes can feel like your game is "rewinding" a second or two. With this issue there is just very slow movement.
This has happened to me a few times, including tonight on the USA server playing Liberation of Caen.
What happens is that everything seems normal, I enter a vehicle or other weapon (such as an anti-tank gun tonight) using the "e" command and things still seem normal, but when I "e" to exit all my movement is severely sluggish. It remains sluggish all the time I'm on foot, but if I again enter something with the "e" command everything seems normal again until I exit again, at which point it again becomes sluggish.
This situation will continue until I'm killed, but when I re-spawn everything is back to normal again, regardless of whether I'm on foot or in a vehicle or other weapon. After this the problem no longer occurs for the rest of the game.
It sounds somewhat like lag, but I think it's something different and not network-related. I also think it's not something with my computer, at least nothing external to the game, because once it starts to occur I can control it by being on foot or not.
Has anyone ever seen this problem before?
I'm not actually saying you made a mistake Blackadder. I just thought it would be easier to understand if it's said that way. No offense intended!
None taken, and I agree.

but Catpain_Blackadder told me I was baned for glitching.
he was mistaken it seems like, Maxwell.
I may be mistaken, but I was pretty sure I saw a (yellow?) chat entry for someone "banned for glitching" during the Kursk game, and thought I remembered it being Maxwell when he opened this thread. I noticed it because I had been one of the casualties in his bombing raids on the uncap, so I remember thinking something like "I guess they got him for something else." I certainly wasn't accusing Maxwell of glitching, just trying to offer some information, but if I was mistaken I'm sorry for causing confusion.
I played it again after I started this thread, and noticed another problem: the anti-tank guns on either side of the steel bridge still point south, so they are of no use since all the action is behind them.
Back to my 3rd point, as soon as I started playing that particular game (on Allies) there was a lot of base attacking, and I mean Axis actually coming into the red circle marking the Allied base to attack. One of the admins seemed to chalk it up to the flags being so close, but maybe didn't understand what was going on. Another admin though was later warning a lot of people about it.
I was playing last night (Kursk on USA server) and saw a message that Maxwell was banned for glitching. Other than that I didn't see what was going on, and I don't know who the admin was.
A "mobo" is a motherboard, I assume.
Just out of curiosity, how many people use a mousemat/pad?
I haven't used one in years and I like the freedom of the entire table.
I use a mouse pad at home, but at work my desk surface works very well, especially if I use furniture polish on it once a week.
It's just a diversion. Somebody needs to cover the back flag before he caps it!
Silent Heroes is at http://www.silentheroes.se.
Battlegroup42 is at http://battlegroup42.de and https://www.facebook.com/BattleGroup42-154526164586059. The latest stable version is 1.7, but 1.8 RC1 is out now. I'd wait to try to download it, because it's almost 5 GB and RC2 should be out within a week or so.
Catpain_Blackadder wrote:I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this problem.
Yes, i had the same problem but it was some years ago. Dont know what was the fault it just happened now and then. Im pretty sure i didnt have a microsoft mouse tho.
What kind of mouse mat/pad do you have?
I think it's this one: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/6 … se-Pad-016. Not 100% sure, but it looks the same and is the same price and place I got it in-store.
It works well for me. I just got it a couple of months ago, but I had the same problem using the old mouse pad, so I don't think it's the cause.
