Has anyone ever played this mod before? It is basically a port of vanilla BF1942 maps to the BF Vietnam engine, made by EA/DICE.

Playing BF1942 maps on the BF Vietnam Refractor engine has a few advantages compared to vanilla BF1942, such as:
- A much better kit selection and soldier skin customization system
- Slightly better hit registration in infantry in Internet servers
- The ability to add buddies in different colors (this could be useful for wars and other organized events)
- A delay when going from standing and crouching animation states to crouching. This prevents prone spamming
- 3D maps: you can see how far control points and other items are relatively to your current location in the map. Again, useful for strategies/wars/etc
- A much better "undergrowth" vegetation system (grass) allowing players to hide on the maps
BF Vietnam itself also has some pretty kickass infantry maps, for those of you who like infantry only gameplay. Saigon68 is one example.

I currently don’t have the game installed because I’m building a new rig. I might have a backup of that RFA somewhere on Mediafire. I’ll get back to you during the weekend about that.
You can also ask bud and Arkos for help about setting up servers, they are much more knowledgeable in that area than I am.

Does nobody else feel like the server is too heavily modded? I feel like all these mods and the no base killing rule have become counterproductive. Almost every map I play I see more than half a dozen players pissing around in base. This is probably caused by what seems like an unlimited amount of spawning vehicles, along with base protection. It ruins the flow and dynamics of the game. These maps were carefully designed with balance in mind. It affects the skill pool as well...
Nobody gives a shit about their vehicle being blown up, because they know another one will respawn shortly afterwards. Players aren't forced to play infantry anymore, they're completely vehicle dependent. They'd rather fill up one of the unlimited spawning jeeps with xpacks than trek out into the field as infantry. On some maps there's such a lack of infantry, the game tends to stagnate... Battleaxe comes to mind. It works both ways, Berlin might benefit from more "useful" vehicles and xpacks.
I can understand some base protection. Certain maps could become ridiculous if the base spawns were constantly being shelled/bombed. On the other hand, hordes of players are just stood in the base doing nothing and have no incentive to move. Base bombing/shelling can be indiscriminate, therefor is an understandable rule. Sniping and shooting base should be allowed, as long as there's a sufficient death bubble and no nades/artillery. I understand it's annoying to get sniped whilst waiting for a vehicle, but all you need to do is move around a little bit. Maybe these base dwellers will get off their ass and get active. Hell, maybe this would solve the vehicle whore problem and give others a chance at tanking or flying. If you're really lucky, maybe one of those low ID abusers takes a headshot, right before their vehicle spawns.
Furthermore... What constitutes to a player being active in base? Some admin like to move away from spawn and set these dumb traps by baiting players. If you move away from spawn, to me it means you're active and from a foggy distance it looks like you're sniping... There's a bunch of other stuff that could be changed as well... bring back (limited) xpacks on Omaha... longer vehicle spawning times... get rid of the 10 second deathmatch infantry spawns...anything else?

Happy to see you back! Pretty much every player you mentioned in your list has gone off the radar. I think only VS still uses their forums, but that’s about it. SmokeD made an account here a few years ago.
As for the LPS server files, I think Moss had them somewhere, you can probably PM him and he’ll send them to you. I also have the Traptown map if you want to host it.

Yes it is about molding the server to your needs, and you have been posting your imbecilic requests here for years, ever since your failed TTB experiment crashed and burned.
You know nothing of what the majority of SiMPLE players want or how the server works. The people that possess this knowledge are the actual admins: Paul, Raketenhorst and a few others.
I have a great solution for you, which will be mutually beneficial to SiMPLE and you:
1) Make your own server
2) Populate it with bots. You can even add bots to TDM!
3) Add all your retarded mods there, and do all the spawnkilling you want: no one will complain!
As you can see, its a great solution that would rid SiMPLE of your stupid requests while allowing you to play in your little magical world like the delusional lunatic that you are. Everyone wins!

Henk, does the map downloader recognize client side mods that are run map side? For example if a client has the map already but the server runs the same map with a client side patch (00x), would the autodownloader work?
FHSW really needs an utility like this, I think perhaps more than any mod out there, since it is the most active mod project at the moment.
Just imagine the ability to download the latest FHSW version automatically + the map packs and texture/sound fixes, that would be pretty cool.

The physics in BFV would need an overhaul for 42 players to even bother playing there. For one, there is an annoying up and down camera bob effect when you walk. That should be removed.
Perhaps the WW2 Vietnam mod could be played, with some modifications to make it more 42 like.
