Cool post Pete! Would like to point out that tuia, is the reason SiMPLE is active and the work of some others here that makes it happen on the running side. Toss Pit a TYVM and all will be well in the thank you land of BF.
See you in game!

Thanks nameles for keeping us up!

Have not seen you in a while Oscar and hope all is OK!
Now understand this, of ALL folks here, you should recognize the silk bunderhosen feels so much nicer on the thighs. The polyester catches all those hairs in between the weave.
Really Oscar, get with it already! Even tiger knows that.

I read that article and saw footage of the landing with the wing lights on.
He who finds the next energy source, shall be the man! Perhaps it will be Infra-Red collectors and subterranean energy storage pods.
Maybe thermal to thermocouple with di-similar metal electrolosis on large scale.
Maybe it will simply be core energy from the mantle.
But to fly across the Pacific, 62 hours with no conventional fuel source..... THATS pretty hip!!!

The older post started with plasma energy and research in Germany. Audis and Volkswagens and plasma. Go figure eh? And to think I didnt expect anyone to read that stuff................

In 2011 a horrific crash at the annual pylon racing event, typical speeds of 500MPH (805 KPH) turns a beautiful P51 Mustang into something that eats your soul. Even the engine appears to disintegrate. The sound of impact is chilling. This event has been on my bucket list and a close friend goes every year except THIS one. Its unimaginable how many planes in WWII found a demise similar to this. I don't know why this was on my mind today but I thought I would post it. These birds are highly tuned and if you watch other vids, you can hear the awesome power these Rolls Royce engines produce. 3200 plus HP. After this crash they have moved the stands further back from the course now to increase spectator safety.

In the vast full periphery of the Universe, we have seen so little I know. One of the best publications I get every month, and recommend to anyone, is Astronomy Magazine. Had a subscription for well over 30 years. Sky and Telescope is pretty cool too but not as detailed and Bob Berman does not write for them.
I still believe we are alone and I am unique in this belief even from the publications. SETI to me is silly. So much of this stuff came from "Incident at Exeter" and other stories right down to Area 51 and Groom Lake. Loch Ness. Yeti. Chubacabra. The day someone shows a real video, with no questions to its authenticity, I will begin to believe. For now, this old fart simply does not believe in those stories or the belief of intelligent life elsewhere. Recognizing the vast size as much as is possible to comprehend. Yes I am that exact guy who will sleep in any "haunted" place with absolutely no fear or belief an incident will occur. I have tempted the spirits in disgusting manners in my youth. One of the places we teased the spirits in unbelievable manner is below. We did find horses when we heard sounds once....We denigrated the place. Intemperance in youth.
The Cosmos are still being born in the eyes and minds of Humans. I just dont buy any of the stories or wishes for others out there. Maybe when I grow up but for now, I live as I believe.

Read shit like "Personal Accounts" near the bottom. *sighs* Spent more nights and weekends here tempting the spirits..............

Gravitational lensing. The "bending" of light. Via gravitational centrifugal force. Yes those are GALAXIES! Quadrillions of stars.....
I still do not believe yet. Oh the arrogance of Pleiades.

Pleiades... google, and take a look at the images that are regarded as the furthest pictures ever taken away from earth.  They aimed at a dark spot in the universe where there appeared to be no light interference.  If you can look at those pictures and still believe what you just said...I would invite you to look a little closer.

#472 Re: Off-Topic » Pleiades53 I am SOOOOO disappointed in you » 2016-04-24 04:28:29

Personally I do not believe we have ever been "visited" or that flying saucers etc. have been here nay more than I believe ghosts walk in buildings they were killed in when they were alive. I am odd.
Life as in Intelligent life, I believe is unique to Earth. As pompous as it may be. In the fifties and sixties, there were sightings galore. Now in the days of cell phone cameras, video cams, surveillance cams, go pro cams, digital cams,......what,.......all the Aliens are now staying away because they know we have picture technology? It just seems plain to me. Remember, I am OLD and a fart!
I have dabbled in astronomy for over 40 years. Stared more nights until dawn through eyepieces than I care to admit. Read often on the issues. I think sometimes we all need to believe in something but my dusty cranium is just not seeing it. Yes I know I need glasses.....LMAO
If the intelligence of tiger would keep the aliens away, we might start preparing petri dishes a plenty for the future. Could sell them like bubble gum in quarter machines!
:-)
I DO however believe life as a cellular level, virus, bacterial, amoebic, simple life may well be roiling in some form but without our understanding of intelligence. At least its possible.
  Call me obtuse.

No to UFO's? I get it.

But, are you saying in this vast universe life is unique to Earth? Or that aliens that have the intelligence to do so, would not visit because of morons like tiger?

THAT was pretty cool reading. I remember it from magazines but have not studied much of the paradox. The older I get, the less I seem to be involved in astronomy as I did in my youth. If I got my hands on a 12" or larger scope, ALL that would change. Nothing like finally being able to see color for the first time when you peer through a larger aperture.
Hawking is an amazing man but occasionally, the alien stuff makes me say bah....... I am not a believer in UFOs or extra=terrestrial life. I guess I am too contemporary. I would still wish to attend Starmus some day as a bucket list event. I will bring the "Hamilton" wine for that one! :-)

However, for you fans of Queen (Brian May whom has his Doctorates) or Hawkings, below is the THIRD Starmus and it happens this year.
Anyone in the world can attend. I am not a fan of Hawkings but Bob Berman will be there and he speaks plain English about physics and astronomy. Even I can understand his articles.

Starmus is the unlikely joining of music and astronomy. Check it out. Brian May playing with Rick Wakeman as unlikely as that sounds as an example.
