Hi guys, I upgraded some of the servers' settings, I hope you will like it. The most notable change is the server slots going from 48 slots to 100 slots. I've also made the bots far more aggressive now and they are running on maximum skill. The bots are still bots but react much quicker to a variety of situations which make the game a bit more interesting!

Hi guys, the bot files for Conquest haven't been completely uploaded to the server yet (I have done about 8 maps yet) but I should be done this weekend.

All maps will have bot support with the exception of the following maps: Battle of Britain, Aberdeen, Liberation of Caen and Philippines.

Guadalcanal and Midway will also have bots but since bots can enter the submarines, which have no instructions for bots on what to do, they can crash the server. That is why I have removed the submarines on those maps.

I've been thinking, maybe we can have some sort of event to promote the server better. One weekend, we can gather around 10 or so people, film it, and publish it on YouTube. And have a chat about the server on TS afterwards.

Good evening everyone!

As promised in my "BF1942 Revival Action Plan" topic, my BF1942 server is now live. The server is called "THE FRAG REPUBLIC [CAN]" and, as the name implies, is hosted in Montreal, Canada.

Extra, extra thanks goes to tuia who has installed the server on a Linux OS by himself through command lines and who has had the patience and time to answer my questions relating to the server's installation. Without him this server wouldn't have existed at all.

The BF1942 server runs on a Kimsufi KS-3 Core i3-2130; 2 cores/4 threads; 100 MBPS speed; 8 GB RAM; 1 TB disk; 3.4 GHz server.

So whoever feels like it can hop on the server and, if you want, see if the server is visible on the Internet server list AND see how it plays (lag, no lag, spikes) and then report your observations here.

Server is pure (with Content-Check), has 48 slots and runs a full map rotation (minus Philippines). I will be making a forum/website soon enough for admin applications and general inquiries about the server.

EDIT: The server is not yet in the server list, you can join it manually until it is! IP is 142.4.208.105 and port 14567.

Think it'd be fair if you included some XPack planes here. Goblin? Horton Ho229? Even the Natter can be a fighter plane if you know how to line up the rockets towards the enemy pilot when strafing.

Don't go with Gameservers they're shitty. Too expensive and setting up your server can be a pain with them. I would recommend Fragnet. Anyways, where will you get that money from? It seems a bit over the top to have to give prize money to the winners, especially the amount you suggested.

I've done a 2v2 tank tournament on this forum before and people joined without the need of money prizes.

Tbh if you want this to lift off you need to come up with rules/sign up forms/a dedicated server right in your first post and then you might have more luck getting people to register in your cup. Of course we are all interested in these sorts of things but most here need to know right away what kind of format your cup/event will take.

Raised Fist mod is an infantry only mod I started back in 2014 because I think we do not have enough of these in Battlefield 1942. I had a break of about a year and a half caused by school and other things, and have only recently started working on the mod again. I have had the immense luck and pleasure of finding some very talented mappers and modders to help me release v0.6 of the mod.

It is pretty sad that most big mods start as small infantry only conversion and branch out into full fledged total conversion mods, such was the case for Eve of Destruction. A few BF1942 mods such as FragField really know how to stay true to the infantry only aspect of the game.

Our vision of Raised Fist is to always keep it infantry only. Vehicles will never be added to the mod. If you would like to use some of the maps of Raised Fist to make your own mod conversion, please send me a PM on ModDB and I will get back to you when I can.

Changelog from v0.5 to 0.6

- Updated all Raised Fist loading screens. The new loading screens and load bars were made by Texafornian

- Three new maps have been added to the four previous ones: rf_pitch_black (made by Jim2102), rf_oasis (made by Texafornian) and rf_hellhouse (made by Black Mamba)

- New minimap CTF and team flag icons

- Reworked object textures, most notably the rf_canyon walls (textures now are more crisp and less pixelated) and the rf_castle labyrinth cover platform. The reworked object texture were made by Texafornian

- lexiconAll.dat overhaul. New custom spawn announcements for Elimination game mode, new game mode names, new team names, and much, much more

- The parachute bug from v0.5 which would cause a CTD was fixed. Parachutes now disabled by default for all weapon kits

- Fixed rf_canyon spawns in TDM + CTF and added health packs to rf_labyrinth

- New custom mod icon, made by Texafornian

- New red colored fist replaces the default soldier health image

- Four new building meshes (used in the map RF_Hellhouse) for you to discover

- New colored server mod icons

- New patches for the extra game modes that were made for the mod (rf_extended, rf_deathmatch, rf_infiltration). These game modes all have their custom mod icons and loading screens, all made by Texafornian

- New loading bar display and background image

- New colored "fist" in game health icon


Raised Fist v0.6 Full + v0.61 Patches General Information

New game modes have been made in v0.6, that were not present in v0.5 of the mod. The new game modes are: Demolition, Elimination, Prisoner Rescue and Infiltration.

Demolition: This game mode is present in the map RF_Castle. In Demolition, the Blue Team must find the two Demolition Kits, destroy the labyrinth door, enter the labyrinth, find the safe and then destroy it. The Red Team must prevent them from doing so. Both sides can spawn as many times as they want. One round lasts 10 minutes

Elimination: As the name says, whichever side eliminates the opposing team wins the round. Both sides only spawn once of course. The standard for elimination is set at 5v5 (100% ticket ratio value).

Prisoner Rescue: This game mode is only present in the rf_extended patch for the map RF_Hellhouse. The Red Team only has two minutes and 15 seconds to open all the prisoner cells and kill all the prisoners inside. The Blue Team must kill the Red Team before time runs out or prevent them from killing all the prisoners. Both teams only spawn once.

Infiltration: This game mode is only present in the rf_infiltration patch for the map RF_Arabian_Nights. The Blue Team must enter Red Team territory to steal a briefcase, and then bring it back to an extraction point to score a point. The Red Team must prevent the Blue Team from A) stealing the briefcase and B) bringing the briefcase back to the Blue extraction point. Briefcase and extraction point locations are marked clearly on the minimap. The Blue Team only has three minutes and a half to capture the briefcase. Both sides only spawn once.

Here is a game mode chart that shows which game modes are available in which maps and the corresponding mods for these game modes. It also shows if the game modes have pickups enabled (weapon kits, health packs) or not.

Installation info

To make the patches work you need to install the main raised_fist mod. The patches will not work if you simply install them to your computer as they are dependent on raised_fist mod to work.

You may install any patch you like or none at all, these arent required to make raised_fist work.

I'd have to say, as an ex mod tester this mod is definetly among the best mods out there. Everything, from texturing to mapping is executed finely and I especially liked the new radio commands and the sound editing in general. To those who are criticizing the mod for lack of AI support I can understand this was a major letdown however I do believe bots have been added in the newer patch. Also try the Objective mode on Murmansk_Railroad with a dozen people, its quite something.

A project of this size is pretty much impossible to do now. The modding community of BF1942, or what remains of it is fragmented into modders working on solo projects. The only exception to that rule are the modding teams for huge conversion mods such as Galactic Conquest, FHSW and, previously, BG42. So unless we can gather a team of sound engineers, mappers, modelers, skinners and other artists that are all interested in the same project, it is going to be hard to launch a LOTR mod.

What kind of mod enthusiast are you? Do you prefer small to medium size mods that pack a reasonable amount of content (such as the Infantry mod or a custom map pack) or full conversion mods that can have a considerable size on disk (500 MB to 1 GB, sometimes more!) but pack a lot of content and are usually the most interesting? By full conversion mods I mean mods like Forgotten Hope, Desert Combat, Galactic Conquest, Eve of Destruction and Battlegroup42.

How big is too big for you? What gives you incentive to download a mod if it exceeds your selected mod size?
