Good evening everyone!
As promised in my "BF1942 Revival Action Plan" topic, my BF1942 server is now live. The server is called "THE FRAG REPUBLIC [CAN]" and, as the name implies, is hosted in Montreal, Canada.
Extra, extra thanks goes to tuia who has installed the server on a Linux OS by himself through command lines and who has had the patience and time to answer my questions relating to the server's installation. Without him this server wouldn't have existed at all.
Complete server settings can be seen here: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ … 105:14567/
The BF1942 server runs on a Kimsufi KS-3 Core i3-2130; 2 cores/4 threads; 100 MBPS speed; 8 GB RAM; 1 TB disk; 3.4 GHz server.
So whoever feels like it can hop on the server and, if you want, see if the server is visible on the Internet server list AND see how it plays (lag, no lag, spikes) and then report your observations here.
Server is pure (with Content-Check), has 48 slots and runs a full map rotation (minus Philippines). I will be making a forum/website soon enough for admin applications and general inquiries about the server.
Peace out and see you out there!
EDIT: The server is not yet in the server list, you can join it manually until it is! IP is 142.4.208.105 and port 14567.

Thanks BM!
SM
Please help spread the word of the new server!
Nice BM, thanks for letting us know. Let me know if you need any Linux help, I am an expert.
Hi Aqualung, if you want to help me a bit would you mind launching your game and going to the Internet lobby to see if the server appears in the list? That would be very helpful. Also, I am looking for admins. PM me if you are interested.
I think the server is going to struggle to handle 48 players, it shows as being 1.9Ghz and not the 3.4Ghz advertised do you have other services running on this box that are also using CPU power?
Seems that only 1.9Ghz is being allocated against your BF server.
I can confirm it does appear on the in game server list.

it's just by default soft-clocked to low ghz speed (powersaving mode). takes a few seconds/commands to set it to full speed all the time. 2 ghz is sufficient for up to around 30 players, and it's been empty for days, so no urgent need to clock it higher

I've been thinking, maybe we can have some sort of event to promote the server better. One weekend, we can gather around 10 or so people, film it, and publish it on YouTube. And have a chat about the server on TS afterwards.
@xp_fanatic: Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi guys, the bot files for Conquest haven't been completely uploaded to the server yet (I have done about 8 maps yet) but I should be done this weekend.
All maps will have bot support with the exception of the following maps: Battle of Britain, Aberdeen, Liberation of Caen and Philippines.
Guadalcanal and Midway will also have bots but since bots can enter the submarines, which have no instructions for bots on what to do, they can crash the server. That is why I have removed the submarines on those maps.
Happy fragging!

Hi guys, I upgraded some of the servers' settings, I hope you will like it. The most notable change is the server slots going from 48 slots to 100 slots. I've also made the bots far more aggressive now and they are running on maximum skill. The bots are still bots but react much quicker to a variety of situations which make the game a bit more interesting!

Hi all, contrary to some rumours the server is still up. I also have player stats for every round since when the server went live for the first time. The next step is to build a webpage for people to see their stats
