IDA is not written in python. Its a disassembler and debugger for programs without the source code available, like bf1942. Its definitive not specifically made for hacking forums.
Bots are an issue for santo_croce because they keep firing from main base to the opposite main base across the river which disturbs the game for many. Thanks
This can be fixed with a invisible wall on the river. A modder can place (custom) static objects on the river, so bots dont see acrose the river. I think it can even be made that you can fly trough it, but the wall doest need to be very high, and usually you wouldn't fly that low over the river anyway.
With this there is a better flow of bots going from bases to flags, it should helps with preventing that all flags are taken by the emeny.
That decision comes from these maps being very large
Apart from the the bases flags, the flags are petty close to each other, altrough it can take up some time to go from a flag by bridge to a hill flag. Overall this map feels more small that large.
Altouch i dont like Baytown very much, i dont like the idea of maps getting completely removed, something like one week those maps on maplist one week off the map list, would be better i guess. Or if possble put every map 2 times in the maplist, unpopular maps 1 one time.
However, upon launching the binaries they seem to have assumed they would be installed expecting a mods/bf1942/settings folder and then individual configuration files in that folder. Am I missing something here to run a dedicated server? Is just patching the settings of the bf1942 ServerSettings.con file the better answer?
I think you are installing it wrong way, here is how i installed it, if i rember correct:
First download v1-6-19 https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-50 … er-v1-6-19 and install, and run it to test if it works
Apply the next patch and test if a binarie works
https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-71 … -19-v1-61b
Then install the patch from team simple and test if it runs
The next patch improves ping compensation: https://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield … atch-linux
Next are patches for bugs in capture the flag modus. You need edit the binaries with a hex editor, i think i just search and replaced in hex
https://github.com/uuuzbf/bf1942-patches
I dont know the hit-registration-patch fixes the master server. The gamespy and the sk master are not online any more, if you want the sever to show up in the internet browser, you have to patch it to henk's master server. I think putting this into the host file will work:
143.176.207.225 master.gamespy.com
143.176.207.225 master.bf1942.sk
You can now install BFSM, if you want that.
If you host the server to the internet, its probaly a good idea to firewall in a way that only you and admins can access the bfsm port and remote admin port. Its very old software, and probably not secure.
I had the same issue, turning off compatibility mode fixed it.
Hi nz2004,
Whenever I do this, the client(s) receive the "data differs issue".
Check if on the host game.serverContentCheck is set to 0 in:
C:\games\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\ServerSettings.con
If content check is on, the game checks if certain game files are the same, if not you get that message. Its a anti cheat protection, but no big online server has set on nowadays.
On mine bf1942 game instalation content check reset every time to 0, when i start a local server. So i have no idea where that issue comes from.
I do not want to buy an additional machine just for the dedicated server.
You can run the game and the dedicated server on the same machine at the same time, unless when you have a very ancient machine. A advantage that the dedicated server has that you can put maps with different game modes and dlc/mods in the map list.
But it cost a bit more effort to set up, you have to update the server 2 version afaik, and dont forget to turn contentcheck off and set to to local network.
You can then also install BFSM, it makes banning/kicking people more easy, and it has some more settings, but i dont think thats needed for a lan party.
Last week i tried again bf1942 on mine raspberry pi 4, got like 15-30fps, with i think 20 players online + bots. The cpu and gpu of the raspberry pi 5 are both 2-3 times faster than the raspberry pi 4 i think that gets quite playable.
You can also pay it on android with winelator, i got around the same performance as the raspberry pi 4, despite being 4 times faster than the rasbpery 4. This when sounds is turned off, otherwise i got ~5fps. The controls are shitty, this game is not made for touch
If you dont need dgvoodoo2, try removing it, if you need it try a difference output api.
https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing … u-scaling/
I think you can also fix it with dgvoodoo2.
The issue was solved on discord. The server didt use the new master server
So is this available for public or this is only implemented for servers? i dont get it?
You can have it too, on your server!

Me en haski where testing an server setting(admin.collisionlatency) after a player called bro posted in the team simple discord that this setting improves regs. It indeed regs better from the side when it set it lower than the default 0.1. We did not test if this settings has other effects. This setting does not save after restart, maybe aslo not after map change. I cant save it in serversettings, or adminsettings i dont i why, for now i just run stalin wih timer off and a lot of tickets
Desert combat has ony two dc maps that support singleplayer. You can find you the dont see maps in muiltiplayer > create game.
There is a server that has bot in some dc conquest maps.
http://bf1942.eu/Server/FromQueryPort/1 … 9.37:23001
Perhaps mods like DC Extended do have bots in dc maps. I tried that mod for some minuts and the mod smees not to be stable, and i think its difference a lot from dc. I dont know any mod that only adds bots to dc or dc maps.
Would anyone happen to have the old BF1942 Patchswitcher (hopefully, a version that doesn't crash on Win 11)?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/battlefield42sw/
this one gives me a checksumm error when tis tarts bf1942.exe, i think because i use the High-Definition Remaster mod.
What you aslo could is if you install 1.6, make a copy of the battlefield bf1942, past it somwhere, and then install 1.61, the pasted bf1942 1.6 should work i think.
Changes between 1.6 and 1.61 arent big think, i gues a security fix. I gues it cuold be that 1.61 (regs) are performing less that 1.6 but i dont think its very likely becasue of its seems a small update.
I think the the regs on a windows server are better than on linux server, the linux server uses 15% cpu usage on one core, without playes or bots, bf1942_w32ded server with wine on linux usess like a few percent.
as you propably know already, linux bf42 server has something running that takes ca 15% cpu constantly players or no players in it, i believe this is allocated network resources of some kind that has a fixed value. the windows version of bf42 server starts with 0% cpu
so if my theory is right the strain should be much harder on a linux machine when there is a lot of players as it cant scale up those particular resources. that being said this is just me theorising
I did some testing with some to get the the windows server on linux working with wine worknig. i tested it first without gui, the server exe worked, but the server manger not, it needs a gui, with gui, the server manger started. i dont rember why the server manager didt work corectly with the bf1942_w32ded, it could not start bf1942_w32ded or the manger could not conect with remote control. I wanted it to work on a cheap vps to get some mods running wich didt work on linux version, and test if had better regs. it wasn't going to work with a server manager so i stopped with it.
This can explane why you had beter regs back in the day, the demos didt have a linux server version, maybe when you played on 1.6 there where more windows servers, or you played most of you time on some server that where windows servers.
I have the razor mini viper, the only problem i have with it is that it shows its default rgb pink colour at startup.

Am i only one who have these sound bugs lags?? here example i dont even hear enemy guns lol.
These bugs are probaly caused by having channels in sound settings on 32, set it to 64. This will fix almost all soundbugs, whats being caused by not having enouch soundchannels. In mine previous bf1942 instaltions i did edit sound.con in the profile settings, to have 128 channels. if i rember correcty, it fxed all the soundbugs. I dont think that will fixs the sound bugs that are related to the higher downstream tickrates which simple servers have.
There was a player with nick name "bf1942 on raspberry pi 4" on simple server, last seen around 3am pst.
It is very much doubtful what this player claims to have achieved in that nick name, so I have to further question this player's motives. Was their goal to deceive other kind hearted players? Cheat others out of money?
Yes I am aware of box86 and other tools of the sort. No I don't believe for one second that a heavy x86 binary will run at playable speed on wine armhf with real time translation. Even more doubtful that bf1942's hard coded net protocol works under this type of set up.
This is something that I have attempted to do with several arm boards over the years, raspi 3, 4, jetson nano, none have performed well and networking simply did not work with box86.
If you are on this forum, I'd like to see some proof. Otherwise I have no choice but to call you out as a fraud, who (shamefully) logged into simple server on your pc, with that dumbass fraudulent nick name of yours.
cheers
It was me, I did install playonlinux and box86 on twister os, downloaded a bf1942 copy from this forum, and installed it with playonlinux.
But it wasn't really playable, I only managed to get a mine kill, which even was difficult to do, i needed to spam on key 5, because it often switched back to the k98, I guess because of poor performance. The sound shutters, even after setting it to 16 channels.
This guy has a lot better performance, he overclocked his cpu and gpu, but maybe also because he plays singlepayer.

Increasing video memory may also improve performance.
With windwos 8 and higher you can just mount a ISO-file with double clicking on it.
Name: 1# player in mine home
Around 19:40 CEST on the main server.
So, why i'm banned?
Player name: vliegjesgehakt

Dont know why, the only thing what i can remember what i did wrong, are some accidentally teamkills.
