Is this the script that will toggle HUD?
Yes but the script will only work in the Flettner Arena map. You can use my Console Unlocker script to toggle console commands in every map.
Thanks for the info! Where can I get your Console Unlocker script? I found several pages here and at bfmods but all download links seem to be dead.
To be honest, I don't really understand a lot here. Is the Console Unlocker available as a stand alone download or is it only include in a map/mod?
Edit: I've followed the instructions here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/raised-fist- … beta-final
I'm temporarily ignoring the fact that my keyboard doesn't have a number pad - that's a bridge for later
Latest version of the mod here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/kklaq2fiw … l.zip/file.

As promised, here is a guide on how the Console Unlocker works. As some people might have thought previously, the Console Unlocker is not a hack, or cheat program. All the commands that are included in it are legitimate. There are no cheats commands included, as the vast majority of commands in Console Unlocker are already included in your game settings.
The exception to this is the third-person camera view, but this view is also used in other mods, such as DC. The only difference with my version is it has a crosshair. No other mod in BF1942 that I know has a third-person view with a crosshair.
The Console Unlocker is built in the mod, and as such does not allow clients to modify their own files to run cheats. It is currently included in the RF v0.62 Beta Final for the rf_frostbite map exclusively. Using this collection of console commands gives the player the advantage of changing game settings on the fly, without having to press Esc, change a setting individually in your Options menu, and return to the game to see what has changed.

Lol. As well as not having a working ~ key, my keyboard also doesn't have a number pad!
It's OK now. I recovered my profile and everything is ready to go now. I just need to think of a good button to map it to that I don't use often.
Thanks again for your help - it was instrumental!
By the way, you mentioned alias commands. I never really thought too much about them and assumed alias commands were just for changing your nickname in game
But ChatGPT is telling me they are macros that can be used to perform multi-button tasks with a single button (I'm guessing that's why some people can throw and detonate xpacks so quickly). Would it be possible to use an alias commands (or some other way) to toggle the hud on and off with a single key, or one for on and one for off?
There’s a thread on bfmods about that and bud made a working script for what you described. It’s part of a Flettner map I made.
Awesome! Thank you! Is this it? https://www.bfmods.com/viewtopic.php?f= … key#p33234
I don't really understand that the script is part of a map. Do you install that map and then you can run the script?

Serebro wrote:Or maybe remap the console to Alt/ mousewheel scroll) or smth.
Using ALT has a side-effect.
I've had console remapped to F9, but it will open when activating Shadowplay (ALT-F9).
Not a big deal, and simply requires pressing F9 after Shadowplay begins.
That's good to know. First I tried "1" but that didn't work because I needed to type "1".
Then I tried "H" but that was a stupid idea since I wanted to disable the "H"ud.
I need to figure out what key is not used for anything but is still recognised by the system (I'm using a Japanese keyboard and some keys aren't recognised).

Actually, I had a few issues… but they were all caused by my lazy carelessness
I successfully changed the console opening key from “~” to “1”. That worked fine and I could open the console without any issues by pressing “1”.
The reason I wanted to access the console was so that I could play without the HUD, so I typed “.drawHUD 0” (or something like that) and turned off the HUD. No problems so far.
But when I tried to turn the HUD back on by typing “.drawHUD 1”, the console closed as soon as I pressed “1” - which was now the open/close button!
But that was easy to fix, and to make it even easier, I updated just one .con file and copy and pasted it into each of the folders where it needed to be changed.
Unfortunately, I copied the wrong .con file and overwrote my personal profile settings.
I didn’t realise anything was wrong until I jumped into a plane and it started moving backwards instead of forwards. Then, while driving a jeep at high speed, I discovered the “exit vehicle” key had been changed - pushing it did nothing and I drove off a cliff.
I have a couple of saved copies of that file, so I should be able to fix everything tonight.
Thanks Serebro, you're a bloody legend!
Actually I was a little confused because I didn't have a Battlefield 1942 folder in my Documents folder.
But after reading the following threads below (one started by me 10 years ago with the same problem!), and by taking on board what you had taught me about the game over-writing changes in the config file (which afterwards I could see was happening), then I could understand what was happening and, after spending an hour working it out, I could finally remap my "~" key to the "1" key and, for the first time since upgrading to Windows 10 many years ago, I can once again open the console window in game.
I was halfway there but your help got me home. Thank you.

Why can't you? Doest it re-write itself back?
No, it still saves what I type - it just doesn't do anything.
For example, I change IDKey_Grave to IDKey_1 to assign the 1 key to console.
But nothing happens. I've tried several other keys to assign it to but still nothing.
I'm running Windows 10.
Is it possible the patches are messing things up?
I trained the loop by going directly to the tunnel and skipping the canyon. After it was dialed I went full circuit.
I thought you might have done that because I saw in your video where you fly in upside down. That was cool by the way!
I’ll get it one day!
Hello Caslon,
You can change the tilde key to bring up the console to another key in Common.con file. It is located in <BF1942 DIR>\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom\Controls. Open it with a text editor and edit this line:
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIToggleConsole IDFKeyboard IDKey_Grave c_CMNonRepetive
For example, change IDKey_Grave to IDKey_F9 to assign the F9 key to console.
To disable permanently the radio icons, I don't know how this can be done.
I can't get this to work no matter what I do. Is there another way to reassign the console toggle key?
Lol, i just created that map many years ago for fun but is unfinished, i should finish that map some day, didnt know people still using it
Great work on making that map! You must have had some fun races back in the day.
I'll tell you what, that loop at the end is brilliantly frustrating! I was looking at it the other day trying to understand what you were thinking when you designed it. How did you work out the angle of the twist and the spacing of the rings?
By the way, if you do finish it, I really enjoy flying between buildings, for example, on Market Garden. Perhaps a Berlin style city-scape where players fly between buildings would be cool.

I'm pretty sure that if I could just find the right music then I would have made it!

If you anyone would like to gather for a race and/or some laughs:
100.40.62.191:14567 ..You can vote to load it (TDM)
In a related note - I made to the squirrely rings near the end then crashed.
That’s where I get to as well. Are you supposed to turn your plane or keep it inverted? Either way it’s frustrating!
After 65 attempts I got pretty close but I can’t get to the end!
It’s incredibly fun though! But that loop is incredibly difficult!
Thank you for your help! Initially I downloaded a different air race mod and wondered why it wasn't the same.
Your link and advice worked perfectly!
This is my very first try. It didn't go too well!
(volume is too loud so be sure to turn it down!)

I've just watched your video on YouTube and I came here to ask for a map link.
I Googled as you suggested in the description but I would like to know what link you used.
Could you please help?
Could this be divine intervention? Probably not because I got shot down straight afterwards ?.
I had to pull up to avoid wreckage but instead of recovering control of my plane, I was distracted by a jeep crossing the bridge. Then a stall took hold and my plane bricked, plummeting to Earth! I was trying to find a leading edge to ride out of the stall and finally found the inverted left wing - but surely it was too late…
Seriously though, WTF?!
That was very satisfying to watch!

seVen wrote:The death bubbles were introduced on Feb 24, 2000. Their effect is different than intended tho. On a Windows server, and an enemy can steal hanger-based aircraft will slight damage as long as they fly it out of there quickly. On tuia's Linux, it kills the player right away.
As for the ammoboxes - There is just one box on the entire axis side, and it is a long walk from anywhere important. Allies do indeed have more boxes, but traveling to an ammobox = less spawnkilling.
Anyways, disabling chutes won't solve shit when a player can simply land their aircraft. Add deathbubble to he entire map?

I few months ago I tried to understand and get into Forgotten Hope but I gave up because I couldn't connect to any online servers. I joined one once but that was it. Can someone confirm my understanding of the game?
This is what I understand:
Forgotten Hope (FH) was created unofficially as a mod of BF1942 in 2003.
It's somewhat more accurate and realistic than the original.
Forgotten Hope 2 (FH2) came out after BF2 and was based on that game.
Later, Forgotten Hope Secret Weapons (FHSW) came out which included the prototype weapons, like BF1942's Secret Weapons of WW2.
Today there are only a few servers that are almost always empty, but when they hold events they are full - for a couple of hours and then empty again.
There is a Japanese FHSW community and they play the Kabu server.
The communities are still actively modding even though populations are dwindling.
You can play the game through your original BF42 program if you have the right files.
Oh, and it's normal for the game to take a long time to load.
That's what I gather but I'm not totally sure about anything
Hey new vid! https://youtu.be/P0sfc1FehXc
It was supposed to be a long and full new video, but youtube said that my epic music had copyright and honestly i wont change everything for that... its easier to make a new one from scratch hahaha.
Leave a like, a comment and/or subscribe to give me some motivation to keep creating nice and fun content!
Does YouTube not let you upload the video if it’s copyrighted?

yeah! bring it on

3:02 is definitely the money shot for me!
Yeah, you're right. It's a Sherman at the 1:00 mark. I love things that look cool - even by accident. Politics aside, I appreciate a good fluke!
Which m10? Which wake mf? It’s Sherman at El Alamei. Ye, mb it’s cool but It's like a peacock Spreading and flaunting his tail, but actually an ordinary rooster is hiding under it.
That was pretty cool though, the jeep using the M10 as a ramp, rolling over, then righting again with a flaming tank in its Wake. In terms of spectacle, it looked great!

That thumbnail shot was the single most awesome thing I’ve seen in this game!
Great to see people modding for this game!
I'm curious, what's the advantage of not having crosshairs?
