Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

It was a good decision. Pixelling is unfair, much like baseraping is. Don't know if you did warn him to stop pixel shooting, before banning him, but if someone does it, he should be warned first to stop doing it.

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

pychopath is an experienced player so imo there is no need to warn him. He knows what he is doing, but i´ll warn those next time.

I warned him before the ban via team chat with an 3 sec countdown. it was quiet obvious. then i banned him for 1 week because i banned him before for the same thing!

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

Hi guys,

Relatively new to this game after not playing since 2004. Could I ask what this pixeling thing is? In other words: how not to do it?
Don't get me wrong: don't wanna try it, just wanna know so I can't mess things up..

Same goes for glitching. If i remember correctly, Lecter warned me 1 time for glitching, but I had no clue what I did wrong.

Regards

Pixel shooting is for example, you are in the def gun on aberdeen and shoot on every pad, by knowing where to aim in the sky. Of course its easier to remember the spot in the sky when there are lots of clouds. Earlier in clanwars it was normal to do this, a mate of me had a pattern on the monitor for pixel shooting.

If a sniper gives you a target, then its not pixel shooting of course.

Glitching in BF1942 is hiding inside the textures of objects, commonly under hangars or inside buildings, you can hit people and they can't hit you.

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but where in the rules pixel shooting is forbidden, and more importantly why it even should be forbidden? As long as you are not shooting to enemy base, I don't see much problem with it. For example Aberdeen: there's no chance at all for the team pinned in their base to take their north/south flag without defgun/arty shooting to the repair pad. Similar at Caen, shooting to the repair pad with sexton makes the capture of south flag quite possible, without it or very skilled players there's not much chance.

I doubt many people remember pixels anymore, it's more like that you get a target from a sniper, then during the spot you get the aim correct, and then learn the spot based on clouds. Now, the sniper is unlikely to give second target or even survive the 2 minutes, is the arty supposed to stop shooting immediately after the spotter is gone? And how can you even control this?

Also, if the 8 year veterans pixel shooting based on their old memory is a problem, I think it's possible to change the server gravity setting. A minimal change will cause all long range pixels to fail, but has no noticeable effect on normal tank/arty shooting.

Easy answer, its unfair and mainly used for spawnkilling, thats why we should continue kicking/banning people for that!

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

For me pixel shooting is no reason to ban someone. At least pixeling is a weapon against pad lamer. wink

Zody, is your (.) key broken or why do you set after every sentence a (!). ?!? oO

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

I've never cared about pixel-shooting, every admin can judge it freely as they wish. I guess Hiba is right. From now on, pixel-shooting is allowed, despite being frowned on, as long as it doesn't target the main base.

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

its not cool if he was shooting in main base or at spawnpoints on some flag, but im sure he isnt so smart...i think it should be allowed cause probably he was shooting that 1st pad, hes not kind of player i would say that he knows how to pixel

Re: pychopath pixeling on Aberdeen

LastResort, it's forbidden to shoot at main base in Aberdeen with defguns, that's basebombing. You can destroy the defgun protecting it, of course.
Allowing pixel-shooting is a controversial rule, as much as the sniper rule, it's hard to judge but it doesn't ruin the gameplay as much as basecamping or plane raping the mainbases.
