It's a good question.

Ismael was a child from a unbeliever. (From the time where Abraham didn't believe on god. But Isaac later was given from god that Abraham has a child coming from his faith on god.

So... If it was a plan, that god cares, that Abraham has a child as a true believer, why God would ask him to sacrifice him.

On the other side, it's also reasonable to proove the faith.

God wanted that Abrahams heir is conceived or a child from Abraham when he believed on god.

At the end Ismael had to leave the clan with Hagar. Later they had also a big family/clan as it was wished from god.

Anyway. Those 3 religions are all based on the same story and people. Gott or god in Aramaic is Alaha.

The only thing is that Mohameds ancestors are going back to Ismael and on the jews the ancestors are going back to Isaac and to the cristians is Jakob. All are Children of Abraham.
