So....I'm not totally IT literate but here's the story. Son borrows laptop for his video editing; son loads all his files on my laptops
primary SSD (500gb) vs my 1tb HDD. SSD is nearly full!!!..
So...do I clone the SSD to the HDD; reformat SSD, then put only certain files back including BF?
do I send SSD to ICloud, reformat and then pull back just BF?
do I say fk it and save BF, reformat then copy BF back
I guess what I am asking is....if I can just save the BF folders/files (which ones!!!!), reformat and put BF back or better just to reinstall BF from my discs...
Windows 10.
Thanks in advance...
ps
Hi HoOK!
...
Why you dont only send the video files to an hd. That's enough.
If you suspect any big hidden files, hidden or not, run Treesize (free software) to identify them.

...
Delete your sons files, then slap your son.
Monkey the only folder you really need to backup is your "settings" folder from C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings, it contains all of your custom configs in it including favourites, key settings etc
The game can be reinstalled and once working simply copy back your settings folder and all will be as you left it
A good tip is to rename the newly installed Settings folder to "Settings.old" and then paste your backed up folder in, if you get any issues you still have all of the working files

or simply buy him an external hard disc drive and ask to store data there
