And? Anybody downloaded it? Anybody knows what's new inside the patch?
I believe there is nothing new. When starting the new BF1942.exe, it launches Origin, that's all.
Great news, I hope we get an online population that stays in the quadruple digits!
Does anybody know when EA will lift the servers? Or when it will stop being free, or is it free forever?
Furthermore, I'm stunned that they didn't at least host Pure servers with Pure mods. And what about PunkBuster? Will it be implemented soon in the new release?
The new patch version doesn't make any sense... The last patch to be officially released by EA for BF1942 was 1.619b, and this is 1.612, but it doesn't include any of the XPacks, so maybe that's why.

joking aside, this is a crazy thing happening today, i have played with lecter on a EA server , amazing the amount of nubZ online, it s so funny...
If I download it and install it, do I have to reinstall the whole games ?

you're 14 years old, which uni you're going to? go finish your primary school first!
tuia, create a new server for 100+ players if u can!

No. BF1942 Free (v1.612) is installed at C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942. The other one, BF1942 v1.61 or v1.6 installs by default at C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942.

Should I release to the masses the patched server file?
can we play there now, its called SiMPLE too? Release the beast if so!

I don't have a Windows dedicated server box to host the BF1942 server. I tested in my home computer.
If they release a Linux dedicated server file, it'll be possible to host a SiMPLE 128 players slot server.
Great, this server should be the most populated one once some ppl have joined it
LOL just played 2 rounds el alamein....so funny...only teamkills / flames / noobs .....was fun
lol, lecter and me tested this "new" thing , but it s unpleasant to play with monster noobs,,, SiMPLE will remain a place for power players, and that origin thing will be a joke
nice effort tuia, really
damn, all staff is online lol, it s like they are giving free candies

Haha, give YM admin rights and send him there, itd be his paradise
that origin thing will be a joke
I strongly disagree. If EA keeps providing 1942 for free on Origin for a long time, then there's no reason why this new version shouldn't be preferred over the old one. A player base of 5000+ ? vs. 500 speaks for itself. Only current problem is that it isn't patched against crash attacks. Everything else seems to be similar to 1.61b
I just hosted a dedicated server on my pc ... with modded files and servermanager ---- people started swarming in...
I am seriously considering renting a windows dedicated server.

I'm going to patch the Windows server file tomorrow against the server crashes.
This is truly amazing. Suddenly 1.61 doesn't seem so important to me anymore. 2500+ players online on day one. Who knows what kind of numbers this will grow to? 5000?, 10000? 20000?.
It's like being teleported back to 2002, but still with tonnes of BF1942 experience. I have a new pc with a 3770k cpu stored away, I think i'm gonna set it up tomorrow as a ded. server.
This Origin release I played yesterday makes me think in different ways. Yes, truly, that's really good to see a lot of players online, despite the fact that the majority are playing like newbies, but who knows - will this be the second life for old classics or just temporary people's attention, becoming apparent by the magic word "free"?
P. S. Also, it's not safe to run the new server on this release due to a lot of old well-known vulnerabilities.
