I would rather PASS on that Monky.........
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.
*Corrected for 2016* Beware of GEEKS bearing gifts.
Sad was the amount of trash that asshats left behind as garbage in those places.
Humans are a virus to the planet.
Mostly....yes, but you know what man...every-time I think or see that side of it.... something beautiful, kind or giving happens soon after. It may be that the type of people you know and places you frequent skews the percentage up.... no denying...but in my circles...it's all good man.

some sober facts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory
Research suggests as few as 2,000 humans were left alive by the eruption and its aftereffects.
I LOVED the positive side of this!!
Just made my day. Yes we have some bad sides but the good stuff, seems to outweigh the bad.
I can tell you some storiesd that completely support your statements. A trip I took across country in the seventies had a number of "bad" things happen but after, MORE good came about and far out weighs the bad. Just my experience.

MORE coolerer than the "Green Moon" my friend will be the angular views of Jupiter in May and June.
Time to break out the scope, even in small apertures!
Gaze on my man. Gaze on!

Pleiades53, what is this thread about?
Every time you see Americans create a topic or hijack a topic. You know it's going to be; uninteresting, unfunny, off-topic and most likely about cupcakes.
Pleiades53, what is this thread about?
Space
you know, the thing between Simon's ears.....
this is normal, universe made of matter and space, hance, when you talk about anything, its either space or matter
We try for cool science or astronomy things. I have one more to add which kind of hits both!
:-)
Pleiades53, what is this thread about?
However, for you fans of Queen (Brian May whom has his Doctorates) or Hawkings, below is the THIRD Starmus and it happens this year.
Anyone in the world can attend. I am not a fan of Hawkings but Bob Berman will be there and he speaks plain English about physics and astronomy. Even I can understand his articles.

Starmus is the unlikely joining of music and astronomy. Check it out. Brian May playing with Rick Wakeman as unlikely as that sounds as an example.

Here this should help you out Pleia:
Space doesn't matter, unless it's Dark Matter.
I need more beer.

Blade
You guys just MADE my day.......

Its not that I have no respect or appreciation of his work, just do not like some of his doomsday ideas particularly in reference to Aliens. I am likely the only human to say I am not a fan.

Im just kidding with u i do think he has a point tho, but ultimately it doesnt matter anyway.
Dunno if you seen this http://waitbutwhy.com/2014/05/fermi-paradox.html i thought it very interesting reading.
THAT was pretty cool reading. I remember it from magazines but have not studied much of the paradox. The older I get, the less I seem to be involved in astronomy as I did in my youth. If I got my hands on a 12" or larger scope, ALL that would change. Nothing like finally being able to see color for the first time when you peer through a larger aperture.
Hawking is an amazing man but occasionally, the alien stuff makes me say bah....... I am not a believer in UFOs or extra=terrestrial life. I guess I am too contemporary. I would still wish to attend Starmus some day as a bucket list event. I will bring the "Hamilton" wine for that one! :-)
Here this should help you out Pleia:
I love Michio Kaku! I love when he's on the Science channel! You can really tell how much he loves what he does.

No to UFO's? I get it.
But, are you saying in this vast universe life is unique to Earth? Or that aliens that have the intelligence to do so, would not visit because of morons like tiger?
Pleiades... google, and take a look at the images that are regarded as the furthest pictures ever taken away from earth. They aimed at a dark spot in the universe where there appeared to be no light interference. If you can look at those pictures and still believe what you just said...I would invite you to look a little closer.
Personally I do not believe we have ever been "visited" or that flying saucers etc. have been here nay more than I believe ghosts walk in buildings they were killed in when they were alive. I am odd.
Life as in Intelligent life, I believe is unique to Earth. As pompous as it may be. In the fifties and sixties, there were sightings galore. Now in the days of cell phone cameras, video cams, surveillance cams, go pro cams, digital cams,......what,.......all the Aliens are now staying away because they know we have picture technology? It just seems plain to me. Remember, I am OLD and a fart!
I have dabbled in astronomy for over 40 years. Stared more nights until dawn through eyepieces than I care to admit. Read often on the issues. I think sometimes we all need to believe in something but my dusty cranium is just not seeing it. Yes I know I need glasses.....LMAO
If the intelligence of tiger would keep the aliens away, we might start preparing petri dishes a plenty for the future. Could sell them like bubble gum in quarter machines!
:-)
I DO however believe life as a cellular level, virus, bacterial, amoebic, simple life may well be roiling in some form but without our understanding of intelligence. At least its possible.
Call me obtuse.

In the vast full periphery of the Universe, we have seen so little I know. One of the best publications I get every month, and recommend to anyone, is Astronomy Magazine. Had a subscription for well over 30 years. Sky and Telescope is pretty cool too but not as detailed and Bob Berman does not write for them.
I still believe we are alone and I am unique in this belief even from the publications. SETI to me is silly. So much of this stuff came from "Incident at Exeter" and other stories right down to Area 51 and Groom Lake. Loch Ness. Yeti. Chubacabra. The day someone shows a real video, with no questions to its authenticity, I will begin to believe. For now, this old fart simply does not believe in those stories or the belief of intelligent life elsewhere. Recognizing the vast size as much as is possible to comprehend. Yes I am that exact guy who will sleep in any "haunted" place with absolutely no fear or belief an incident will occur. I have tempted the spirits in disgusting manners in my youth. One of the places we teased the spirits in unbelievable manner is below. We did find horses when we heard sounds once....We denigrated the place. Intemperance in youth.
The Cosmos are still being born in the eyes and minds of Humans. I just dont buy any of the stories or wishes for others out there. Maybe when I grow up but for now, I live as I believe.
Read shit like "Personal Accounts" near the bottom. *sighs* Spent more nights and weekends here tempting the spirits..............

Gravitational lensing. The "bending" of light. Via gravitational centrifugal force. Yes those are GALAXIES! Quadrillions of stars.....
I still do not believe yet. Oh the arrogance of Pleiades.

You can't watch this and still be a non-believer about life in the solar system:
