Blade
I don't remember exactly when I started playing, but it was probably 2004 or 2005. The game had already been out for a while, because I got Battlefield 1942 The Complete Collection (with Road to Rome, Secrets Weapons, and BF Vietnam) at Software Etc for $10.
I also downloaded a lot of mods, including BG42, but always played single-player. Later I got a similar deal for BF2 + expansion packs, but I still preferred BF1942.
Some years later my daughters started playing BF2 so one day I decided to set up a network game so we could play together on two computers. That kind of opened my eyes to how much fun multiplayer BF1942 could be. A couple of years ago I started playing Internet games of BF1942, and I now usually play on-line.
I have BF3, but don't like the scripted single-player mode, and multiplayer doesn't seem to be very flexible in what maps it will let you play either. BF2 is maybe technically better, but I much prefer the WWII era. So BF1942 is my main game. The mods I play are Forgotten Hope and Battlegroup42, but it's not as easy to find games on-line with those mods, especially BG42. I'd love to see SiMPLE run these mods every now and then.
The only other on-line game I've played much of was back in the Windows 95 days with LucasArts' Outlaws. It was a FPS with an Old West theme and was great, single- or multi-player, with a soundtrack reminiscent of Ennio Morriconi, and lots of user-created maps. I remember there was an ActiveX control in Internet Explorer that would give a list of servers, with a live chat room, which meant you could talk to people about what server everyone wanted to go to next, or just hang out. Then you could click on what you wanted to play and it would launch the game. There were also lots of web sites dedicated to the game; I just looked through some old files lying around on my server, and I found 192 bookmarks to Outlaws web sites I collected.

I started in 2002, remember the first map was EL AL - biggest map i've every walked, didn't know about tanks, how to switch different guns, how to read the map. The server I visited the most was the Area of Destruction Server, they ran EL AL all the time, pilots like Sandwich, Donkey, where there alot. Then I met a fellow player name Merv - we got on ts together and decided to rent our own server. We called it Railriders - we ran the bigger maps majority of the time, about a year later, a player name D4saken started to play, we invited him into our "group". He look into the backside of the server and notice that he could change the coding, we developed "turbo" jeeps, he played around some more and started to add more planes from different maps into the El Al server. This was the birth place of i would have to say the first "modded" turbo jeep El Al server, that server was up around 2003.
Then the big merger of C/9 clan an GodsKillingMachine "GKM" Dr_Death group - using our server for TWL - at that time we had i''m thinking about 4 different servers - 3 major public servers and 1 private server set up with all the TWL stuff.
Now were did i learn my pilot skills? There was a clan named C/9, their leader was "wishmaster" fellow clan members were Bodycount, Joker, Guantomo, few others. Wishmaster got on teamspeak and basically went through run down on what a pilot looks for, other pilots like -=CPU=-Ace and his pilots came into the server and i watched them, saw how they flew and the rest is history. It took me years to get where I am, just didn't happen over night. One thing I DIDN'T DO was quit, I kept at it, ask questions, i took the style of all these pilots and made my "own" Players can say what they want in the server and if that makes them feel better "go for it" - Drago and rest from the Euro are alot better then me but that is what i love about this game, you can only get better if you try. So quit making excuses or reasons and just keep at it.
I tried BF2 etc - really didn't like all that fancy upgraded weapons - I did like Vietnam - and forgotten hope - especially the mod where we get the fly "camel" planes and if you don't know what "camel" planes are, look them up, it was alot of fun! Sometimes in server i get drilled "why" i'm flying against lower rate players, idk, i just get into a plane out of habit. I've been starting to tank and trying my best to learn Inf skills which i'm sucking at.
Wtf is this life story?
Flying is great and all...but how is it that the "best" pilots around here think they are good when most of their tactics are:
1) swoop,
2) swoop again.
I played the demo a lot at my friend's house. I bought the full game at release, but could only play on 16 player CTF servers with 60% view distance and everything on low for about a year, because of the shortcomings of my Nvidia TNT2 GPU and AMD Duron 800MHz CPU.

i supposed somewhere in 2004 or 2005
I played it first time at a party a bit before it was "officially released" (oups), the guy had brand new computer with the best of everything in it. It felt like no time at all had passed, but all of a sudden the party was over and i hadent even got the least bit drunk. My own computer was to crappy for online play so i didnt get out there before around 2005

Dont forget "yeah but you had the Mustang" I prefer low a dirty, lots of planes tangled in a big mess coming from everywhere mmm.
Nobody used to dogfight by going inverted to evade shots back in 2002-2003, but now it's mainstream and incessant. Maybe I need to get with the times?

We swoop majority of time to support "our"team when they point out tank or "armor spotted" the "pilot" part is when oppose pilot comes in to try to shoot you down. Its not the up and down situation ability PitViper - its the ability to defeat your opposing pilots when they try to kill you. If you can go up and down and be able to defeat other pilots, then you are in my view the better pilot. Ground players always makes fun of the air guys, we're there for a reason, don't hate us Sportsmanship within the pilot community is always ended with "GF"

lol flying inverted is something i had to learn
+1 for that BoS... it's strategy I know, and if you do not go higher.. someone else will.... I watch your dogfights,
it's who can hit the ceiling first...then, swoop each other.
and that too
Yups our big-boss-bo§ here is very hard to fight, theres no way if u arnt high enough, often there is no way anyway thou ) It often takes 5 minutes to find him but just 5 secs to come down - if u make it to spot him at all.. so when the heck will u finally sign up for this df-tournament?! If u need an extra-invitation its done now here, pls just add him if he wants it or not hehe

Just don't know when i'm available to be in this tourney. I'm on call 24/7
Ummm first time I played was in 2010 and I instantly fell in love with this game !!!
I don't remember if I wrote in this topic so here's my case.
I've bought this game like in 2003-2004 and played a couple months with bots. I had no internet so it was the only way for me to play. I liked it very much, but I got bored with bots so I quit it.
Someday I was like in nostalgic mood and was remembering the "cult" games of my childhood and so I remembererd bf42. I downloaded it from russian torrents and there were already Simple servers installed in favourites. After I played for like 2 weeks online I teamkilled a troll which lead to my ban and thus forum registration to apply for mercy xD
So it's like 2 years total time playing for me now.

I know it's gonna interest some ppl to know how i got here
Back in 2009, one day, it was my birthday (NO SH*T?!), and my best friend since kindergarten offered me this game. Back in the old days i found violence in video games stupid.... This is why i just put it away.
Then in 2010, a german friend came home and all of a sudden he wanted to play video games... I had shit tons of video games, but he had to chose this one, i felt embarassed, cuz u know, he is german, im french, WWII blah blah i wanted to avoid this kind of discussion... ^^
So we played "together" against bots, because we were just a couple of noobs.
And one day in 2011, i wanted to see how the game looks like ONLINE. And what server did i join first? Try to guess? *MAFIA NO RULES MODDED*, a love story just began between BF42 and me, and my social life died this way The very first time i have played on MAFIA, I just didnt sleep.... i played like 12 hours straight even though i had some "french homework".... I was like "just one last round", but i just couldnt stop because the game was so awesome (if i had joined a normal server with rules, i would have never came back, and i got addicted to bf42 thanks to mafia)!!!
And since then i have learnt to do lots of stuffs in this game (Zoidberg can give you a list of what i can do if u want).
I have met some admins in real life (from schindler for example).
So, for all the ppl who hate on me (Xfiles, Tugg, Raketenhorst blah blah, there is way to much ppl who hate on me, aint gonna give a list), keep in mind that the probabilty of me playing this game was like 1/(10^9), but im here
If u read it all, pls dislike my comment because i made you waste some time
If u didnt read it, pls dislike my comment, because i have wasted my time
PS: 2013 was a shitty year for me, in June, MAFIA went off... I had to discover the game, WITH RULES, it was horrible, a game is supposed to have no rules imo, we already have rules in real life! So when i started to make money (in december 2015), i wanted to pay in order to host the server (which i did for one month)! And guess what? I have lost contact with the *MAFIA* ppl Because their forum is now off, without any reason. Too bad. Now cry with me pls and dislikme my comment like right now
Bye my mates And see you soon!

And later Found Simple-Server...
(Translate from Google Translate "My english it's not good :c ")
I started at the release of the Wake demo,I had a reasonably good joystick and was delighted to see the game supported it,so I jumped into the flying part of it pretty quick. My favorite server turned out to be BFA coral sea where I spent many hours with fun people and met a lot of the 'oldies' I still see around today.(It has been fun meeting old players I've done combat with on teamspeak for instance)
Here's a supportive shout to all the fun players still out there !
See you all out there !
**edit** someone with 'troll' status seems to be downvoting me ,i REALLY wonder who that is.(lol)
