Ban appeal

I was playing Karkov on 7/29 around 1:15 and was in airplane attacking enemy base, I may have been warned in the chat not sure? I thought it was okay to do that when my team had all flags? Sorry if I broke the rules, please unban, I enjoy playing on simples server. This is a first for me after playing since 04. I feel terrible when I get auto kicked for accidently tkg.
Thank You

Re: Ban appeal

Hello Taffy and welcome...you probably were warned like you said.  I just checked the USA nfo and you are not listed as banned on it.

It is not OK when you have all the flags, the only exceptions are attacking a player that is firing at you from their base, then you can eliminate them....if you are playing with bots...they don't follow the rules.

What server and what name did you use?

Re: Ban appeal

Your ban is for attacking main base in plane. You have been kicked in the past for doing the exact same thing. So your claim to not knowing the rules is frankly insulting. Your ban is for one day and will expire 24 hours after your ban was received. If this occurrence happens again, expect a minimum of a one week ban if not longer.

Re: Ban appeal

Okay, I understand. I didn't mean to insult, I'm not a troublemaker. I play on a couple servers. I made a mistake and will not do it again.
Thank You

Re: Ban appeal

Taffy3 is a good player and he has historical precedence. Taffy3 was a small support carrier task force that attack an overwhelming Japanese battle fleet attack that saved the troop support fleet in the Leyte Gulf during the invasion of the Philippians 1944.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf, formerly known as the Second Battle of the Philippine Sea, is generally considered to be the largest naval battle of World War 2 and, by some criteria, possibly the largest naval battle of in the world.

Re: Ban appeal

Hey Taffy,

Sometimes I forget what side I am on and TK out of shear stupidly, mostly alcohol derived. Just ask anyone I have been drunk on team speak.  Anyway the Taffy3 task force was out gunned and they held the Nakagima task force from attacking the American landing forces support task force.

So I say, if I was an Imperial Japanese, Ban him for life.

Re: Ban appeal

Task Unit 77.4.3 ("Taffy 3"), commanded by Rear Admiral Clifton Sprague. Taffy 3's few destroyers and slower destroyer escorts possessed neither the firepower nor armor to effectively oppose the Japanese force, but nevertheless desperately attacked with 5 in (127 mm)/38 cal guns and torpedoes to cover the retreat of their slow "jeep" carriers. Aircraft from the carriers of Taffy 1, 2, and 3, including FM-2 Wildcats, F6F Hellcats and TBM Avengers, strafed, bombed, torpedoed, rocketed, depth-charged, fired at least one .38 caliber handgun and made numerous "dry" runs at the attacking force when they ran out of ammunition.[3][4]

Re: Ban appeal

THANKS Taffy and janet for the info and the suggestion of the book. I am going to find it and take it with me on vacation in a few weeks.
Was Admiral Sprague the one whom was faulted in the USS Indinapolis sinking for the communication issue and the lack of knowledge for being unnoticed after missing expected arrival timing???

Re: Ban appeal

Almost a demonstration of how naval air power replaced the battleship.  Just not enough planes on the small escort carriers to turn a defensive operation into an offensive one, but enough to hold the Japanese back.  Imagine what would have happened if the CVEs had instead been CVs.

Re: Ban appeal

The Indianapolis was wrongly blamed on its Capt Charles Mcvay. He was later cleared. I picked Taffy3 because I admired the courage of the little destroyer and destroyer escorts going up against a much much superior force. They fought so hard the IJN thought they were fighting a much bigger force, cruisers etc.
I played a lot on 5thMR Midway server. Real good team work, strategy etc.

Re: Ban appeal

I remember McVeigh took the hit for the sinking and it was his second ship lost if I remember right too, however, there was a total breakdown in communications and logging in a late arrivals I believe in the Leyte Gulf. I thought Admiral Sprague had shaken off the late arrival and made no concerns when the ship was past the 24 hour mark too. I have the book somewhere and I think I shall re-read the story. It will break your heart..........
