Which file from your download section? / Question about Field of View

Hello, are both of these files:

http://team-simple.org/download/battlef … _v1.61.exe
http://team-simple.org/download/bf1942- … atched.zip

is the same only one is in a format .exe to install ? I have another question : After installing your widescreen patch I have to set the field of view in file? If so, how?

No, you don't need to change FOV value

Battlefield 1942 GameSpy patch v1.61 BF1942.exe automatically sets Windows XP (SP3) compatibility mode and Run as administrator for Windows Vista, 7 and 8 or greater versions, because BF1942 usually crashes during map loading and these settings minimize those crashes. You can try Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 compatibility mode.

Re: Which file from your download section? / Question about Field of View

For what it's worth, "Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5" compatibility is what I've had the most success with.  But it's only available on Windows 7 or earlier; for Windows 8 and later "Windows XP Service Pack 3" is the oldest available "Windows NT" choice.

Had a chance to try Windows 10 build 10240 with Battlefield 1942.  Attempting to use "Windows 98" compatibility in that configuration prevented PunkBuster from working; always "service communication failure" when connecting to a PunkBuster server.  But the Windows XP Service Pack 3 option still worked fine.

Just add +restart 1 +joinServer 162.217.248.97:14567 to the shortcut and never have a join crash again.
