bf ports/protocol

Hello Peps,

just one question: what is the port used by BF42 when playing online?

Thanks

Re: bf ports/protocol

no Dice, I'm not going to open a server.

I'm setting my router's QoS in order to give priority to packets transmitted by some ports, to avoid lags/freezes when I play online and someone else is using my internet connection

Re: bf ports/protocol

I think you will not be enough to help reduce the lag / ping ... Anyway, I think you should pay attention to the port on which the server is hosted, because 14567 is the default port
in Linux it is easier to see from which port you are connected to eg 14567 port on which the server is hosted, but your outgoing port is always randomly

so you think that giving higher priority to that port + setting min/max bandwitch for each pc connected to the router won't solve the problem?

Re: bf ports/protocol

to be well understood, first of all, how many computers are connected to the router? What works on other computers, surf the Internet or downloading something from the Internet, or play a game online? If you surf the internet, you can try the constraints download / upload on the router or program called netlimiter but in either case it will continue to freeze the moment BF1942 soon as someone opens the page, or start downloading until the limitations that are set to the router / Netlimiter stabilize download . Another thing that I am on your computer many times noticed, I'm not happened due to virus increase lag or ping but because I noticed malware, so I use Malwarebytes. The third thing that happens is (occasionally at each, which is normal) that the problem of the lag / ping about your provider or the provider which is hosted on the server. And the fourth thing is, what you imagined the adjustment ports on the router can try but I still think that you will not have almost no improvement.

two computers connected. Splitting min/max bandwitch between them would increase ping, isn't it?

Re: bf ports/protocol

Sharing will not affect the increase ping, because I assume that the total connections greater than 10 Mbps, which means playing BF1942, the connection of 5Mbit is sufficient or will happen as I said earlier that if the other computers on a surfing or downloading something from Internet on your computer will happen short of freezing, jumping ping, until it stabilizes connections
