Virtuel Server for Battlefield 1942

Hey

I just need some ideas where to rent a server for clanplay. Is a root server better than a virtual one? How much ram do i need for like 30 slots? If i rent a virtual one in which way do i have access to it? And finally how much do i need to pay for a good one?

Re: Virtuel Server for Battlefield 1942

A Linux OpenVZ VPS with minimum 256 MB dedicated RAM is enough to run a BF1942 server with 30 slots. In a virtual private server (VPS) you also have root access, although resources are shared amongst clients hosted in the same physical server. It's like virtual containers where each client shares resources of a dedicated server in a fair share policy. Root server or dedicated server, it is all for you to use and abuse, that's why it's more expensive.
Around 2-5 € per month you can find a good Linux VPS.
