Player Anubis is an admin?

It just happened in the French Server, eastern Atlantic Time 11.30.
I was going to take a plane and Anubis killed me. After that he put a !wtk command.
I warned him and he just put a :-) on the chat.

Common guys, it happens again? An admin must ban another admin?

anubis is zapp.
He hasn't a behavior adapted for an admin.

The other day, he sfv my plane in base, i leave to repair that and he stole that and i knew then that he was an admin lol

Saw that. It was on French server, not US. I thought it was strange, but then saw some smileys and admin commands from him. I thought u were friends and this was his specific humour.

Dont remember exactly , i think the map was Charkov.

I think that was on the French server. He's not listed as admin on the USA server.

I think, considering his behaviour, we must warn him at least.
I really want that this server will be a safe and comfortable place to play. I'm fed up to see and to read history about how an admin abuse on the server.

In our situation I have a witness and you confirmed me that it's not the first time.
So, tuia, what do you think about that? ?

It's not uncommon to hear about players complaining about an admin, happens all the time.
However hearing about admins against admins is quite rare, and really shouldn't happen.

You have a set of rules, you follow, enforce, execute. Sure some decisions can be questioned, but for an admin to completely disregard rules and see him/herself above em?

I am not familiar with all the gamenicks, and who is who. But there was Cyrus, kongo, and now Anubis?
(.. sure there is more..)

But with all due respect to Tuia, it makes me wonder: What DOES it exactly take to become an admin here?
Is there a trial period, screening process, or do you just ask for it?

Just seems to be a handful of admins either too young or not fit to handle the responsibility.

It is always hard to find a good admin, and several is even harder.

There is a trial period. kongo failed his trial. Cyrus and Anubis had their mistakes before, but in overall they make correct decisions. Anyone can be an admin if they wish to help the server and in case there is shortage of admins playing.

I contacted Tuia just a few days ago because of this matter.
I noticed that a lot of times I played there weren't any admins online and some players were trolling like hell.
So I contacted him about the matter. I simply asked to become an admin.

After some talking, also with people who know me from the server, it was decided I'm having admin rights for a trial period.

Thats how the procedure went in my case
Totally fair in my eyes.

And I do agree with you its a bothering thing that there are complains about admins even by other admins.
But I think that problem will be handled very well.

And in the case of my trial period.
I play the game a lot. And I like this server.
But I dont have much experience on how to be an admin.
So every good advice or tips are welcome and appreciated.
You can always PM me.
I just wanted to play a fair game and really want to help everyone who wants that also.

That's why I think that we must really do something in this kind of situation if we want to makes things better.

If tuia think that's ok this time for Anubis (zapp), I trust him.
But I think it will be better just to act if the same situation will happen again with the same admin.
And it must be the same for all the admins.

It is not up to me to tell you how to admin, as this is not my "territory".
So it would be up to Tuia, and I'm sure he will guide you.

However I can share my experiences, and maybe you can draw something from that.

This is my experience...

Follow the rules yourself, enforce them, and keep your path clean.
Simple, but there are different ways to do that.

I find the "Calm, Consistent and decisive" to be the best approach.
Don't argue with players in public, direct them to the forums - if they have complaints.
(debate the issue briefly is ok, for example:)

"No that is not allowed here, as written in the rules: Taxi to planes is illegal and will be punished accordingly" - Goto team-simple.org for rules or complaints. /END

Players will sometimes purposely try to pick a fight with you, to undermine your authority and abilities.
They will try to knock you out of bounce, so they can display your weaknesses.
- Those should be dealt with immediately, and again direct them to the forums.
If the general public have no respect, or lose faith in you... your time as an admin can be difficult.
So in my book it's important to lay down a strict but fair tone from the beginning.
However maintain some form of leniency, give players a chance to redeem themselves.

Don't lose your cool, be consistent and decisive in your decisions.

Admins make mistakes too - no doubt. When you do, admit to it and apologize to the other part.

Be nice, greet players, explain issues short terms, but don't argue - handle the situations immediately.
Show respect, and earn respect.

The way you portray yourself, is how you are perceived.
Be an ass, and you are treated like one.

I would add also that an admin isn't above of the player.
An admin is only a player who accept to give his time to server for that everybody can play according to the same rules.

My thought : I'm not superior to others, I'm just a volunteer

Thank you and agreed.
An admin is very much similar to a coach of a sportsteam:
He can manage the players, guide, instruct, but also kick you off the team

Those who have been, or are in sports can relate to this ideology of mutual respect.
A team can perform very different depending on their relationship to the coach, good or bad.

But regardless if an admin is present, one should respect the overall rules.
