Hello peps,
I cannot run Battlefield if Xfire is running: each time I try to connect to a server, the game crashes.
When I close Xfire, bf runs normally without any problem.
Is it a known issue? Any fix?
OS: win8 64bit
Also tried running both programs as administrator, running bf in different compatibility mode.
Thanks in advance
I bet your PC is too weak to handle both tasks, Xfire is very heavy on processor, at least on AMD platforms it is.
I can't run BF and XF together, i get like 10 fps... probably it s only the compatibility issue

Notebook ASUS X55VD
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor 2020M 2.4GHz
Memory: 4 GB DDR3
Video: Nvidia GeForce GT 610M
I for example, when join the server, close xfire in tip of the second
GT210 M is a super weak graphic card, it has M at the end, and it means, mobile, therefore it uses the system RAM for it s purposes, and compared to real VGA cards, it s slow as hell, it just lacks bandwith, and you re fukt up that way, other things you could do are
go to control panel, device manager, and under system restore, switch it off, pull down graphic level of windows aero, to minimum, and you will have much more RAM at your disposal
go to RUN / msconfig, and deactivate all tasks that your computer doesn't need, such as "adobe flash updater, ", or google updater", and many more.
Then , go under your VGA settings and set your nvidia card for performances, and not for best quality
with these you did half the job
there are much many system tweaks at your disposal, but i bet you wouldn't find how, so we will discuss it further over FB
cheers bello
Same problem on XP Pro, 2Go ram, CG nvidia 8800GT, Intel core 2 duo E4400, Asus P5KPL-AM

Well, both work fine on my 7 year old notebook with Vista, Core Duo 1.86 GHz and 64 Mb Nvidia card, I can even capture 800x600 video at 30 FPS But on desktop with better configuration Xfire crashes on startup every time, and nothing helps
i'm seriously irritated with this problem again ...and i want used that
Since that i changed OS, it crash again, maybe i set a bad version ...
I tested xfire 1.153 and 1.155
thx tuia, i tried also to change compatibility mode but it didn't work.
BUT i have just tested this and that "seem" worked ... and this must be verified on a long period.
Open xfire 1.155 version stable, Tools, Options..., General, Advanced..., Enable In-Game Debugging..., close and open Xfire and test BF with.
I would like that some people test this and report your opinion, thx

I won't
Thst crashed my game all the time until I turned off the ability to get chat boxes and stuff inscreen while playing. After I turned that off... no more crashes.
thought about that too... will figure it out tomorrow. so it means, you can connect through xfire but cannot use it ingame, you can also not take screenshots/videos?
I would focus on turning off background programs that are running but not needed when you’re not using them.. for example google update. Java quick start.. turn off the anti virus when playing.. keep in mind laptops are underclocked for temperature management.. an i7 on laptop won’t run like an i7 on desktop. It would overheat. Doesn’t have the air flow..
Here is a link to shut off widows unnecessary programs in back ground.

I never really tried to do videios or screenshots with it. Only one time and it made everything realllllly slow. I prefer just to use the printscreen button and paste it to paint.
Ok, running xfire in compatibility mode gives me instant crashes. Disabling Xfire in-game only seems to work! Thank you

Don't use the new version of Xfire, as it causes BF1942 to crash when reaching main menu. Download the classic version of Xfire in-stead:
http://classic.xfire.com/download/
And remember to run Xfire as administrator for it to work.

Same from me. The classic xfire is the best.
