good luck!
This sunnys solution works . No more breaking keyboards ))

Battlefield 1942 Windows Vista/Windows 7 compatibility fix increased yours and Vojislav ping time after you installed it?!
I haven't tried it before, but that's not good. So, you would recommend to those who have BF1942 crashes with Windows Vista or Windows 7 to just change compatibility mode?
Ok, so, after a few hours of trying, seems like it works best in win xp sp3 compatibility mode, with manually added firewall exception for bf1942.exe.
Fortunately it was possible to uninstall the patch without having to reinstall the game, and immediately my ping dropped drasticaly.
My steps of installation :windows 7 professional x64, AMD platform::::Source : bf1942 + rtr + sw + patch 1.61b, + pixelfighters win7 patch.
In fact the damn game haven't crashed once , after i added the exception into fw.
i hope it would help others

yep my ping was high then i just back compatibility to vista, but i heard that most players use just XP SP3 compat. I tried that today and looks fine ping is now much low about 30-40

AMD win7 64 user here as well. I was having your exact same probs up til the date. I dont have the pixelfighters thingie though, but reading thru this thread I changed from wnxp service pack 2 to sp3, lets see if it works. BF1942 occasionally crashes when a new map starts or at opening it first time. Thanks for this thread.
Crashing problems appears again day by day , i didnt change anything, compatibility is xp sp3. Were there any change on server which may cause this ?

Use TCP Optimizer > Set back to windows default, but better "Optimal", save, then Restart.
Sorry, i saw it to late, that you solved the problem. Even when it's a huge work to reinstall all bec. of this problem.

yes, xp compatibility worked fine almost year and suddenly start with crashing again. What can be ?
...
When i played with Win7 64 i had much more crashes on Simple, then perhaps on AX. True...
But bec. i want to play on Simple, there was only one "simple" solution to avoid these crashes.
I installed XP on a other harddisks, ... ok, for some other games too, as example Fear 1. Since then i have no crashes anymore. I can choose the OS, (or let's say the harddisk), with F-Keys, when i start the PC. It's not a DualBootsystem as usual, only two OS separatly on two harddisks.
XP is also much better, if you like to play several Bf1942 mods.

Could be caused by another program maybe? I have win8 and the problem when i run xfire, anytime i tab out the game or press esc, my exe crashes... any solutions for this?
