Jumping Ping

Any chance to see what program is using my connection at a certain moment?
I just played some mins on the server and realised that i got massive ping jumps between 100 up to 700 for a short time and then it's normal and yet jumpng again...

Re: Jumping Ping

Windows key + R, type "cmd". Then type in the black box: "netstat -an". Don't get overwhelmed with all those connections showing up and close your browser first. smile I guess any common firewall may show network usage. You can ping the server for a rough estimate of your ping time. In command prompt type "ping -t 188.165.220.115" and Ctrl+C to break.

Re: Jumping Ping

I confirm your ping is unstable to the server and the cause is on your end.

Re: Jumping Ping

Your ping was stable some minutes ago and then it spiked for a few seconds and back to 30 ms and stable again. You are using wireless connection?
Don't mind the netstat results. tongue

For Windows 7 and Windows 8:
<Win> + <R> - resmon
For Windows XP:
Process Monitor and Process Explorer
http://sysinternals.com

You also can download and install Comodo firewall for free to watch the network activity via Comodo network monitor and create the rules for your applications to allow/deny the connection, it will ask you what to do. It might help.

So, if your router works in wireless mode, somebody can connect to your hotspot, therefore, and watch YouTube videos, download or update something during you play the game.

Have the same problem, but not always. 99% chance that it is because of the wireless

I know, it was just to note that it's probably not due to the (wireless) router smile

Re: Jumping Ping

Since i got some really weak internet we thought about getting faster internet via Wireless.
Which would mean eventually a limit of 15GB after these it gets slower...
Could anyone tell me how much MB an hour of BF would be?
There are programs that can tell you how much you needed but it's too late because i have to decide within the next week.
Or is there an possibility to see how much i needed in the last month? Guess I have to talk to my current provider huh?

i joined the game and measured the traffic, it's about 128kbit/s

that's 16kB/s, that's roughly 56MB per hour

Re: Jumping Ping

Download WinMTR and test your ping to server. It can be a temporary problem with network.

Re: Jumping Ping

Does anyone know or know how to avoid that bug when you enter a mg or (what i realised yesterday) also a pak, that when you leave it your game runs really slow like you have like 30fps although your fps are kinda normal... It's normal again after you died.

Funny there was a time that used to happen to me alot specially after being on AA´s but not anymore. Can it be related to internet connection? Its a wild guess...

ya this happens to me when i play in slower connection (<9kbps).. (2G)... I prefer dying .. the slow movement goes....
2ndly u can download "networx" to monitor network usage.... Bf uses 10-11kbps = 29-30mb n hour...

ping problem increased with me when i upgraded to windows 8... Mainly due to communication service regularly using data..
so u can download n antivirus with gaming mode...or do a longer way..that i did..:

--I disabled all inbound n outbound connections in windows default firewall in advanced setup(in just 2-3 clicks)...n allowed inbound n outbound connection to bf1942.exe... N exit my kaspersky while playing bf... For normal internet uses turn ur antivirus back on... This removed the varying ping problem 4 me...---

Re: Jumping Ping

It is also related to your internet service provider (ISP) of how good or bad their service to their subscribers as well as the type of internet connection you have.

I have 2Mbps broadband connection and hell, I can't play online between 6:00 AM~12:00 MN (UTC+8:00) as network traffic was heavy with intermittent speed. But most of the time, no internet at all. And even if I play within 1:00~5:00 AM, I'm still get higher ping...

a little OT:

@ziba128
I'm just curious so if you don't mind, can you PM me why your mod "Forgotten hope revisited" postponed indefinitely? And do you have any plan to release the latest modified .exe (by s[sk] and Tuia) that can play 128-bots?

It's possible to play but they occur like all the time really strange.

---

TCP Optimizer but only important for Vista and 7, but not for 8, in XP not in any case.

http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php  But i recommend only TCP Optimizer.

Set your InetSpeed and then choose "Optimal settings" save and restart. (You have also the possibility to reset by choosing "Windows Defaults".

...

But also important is:

>    Deactivate Windows Update for playing games

> * Deactivate AV Backgroundscan while playing games, (named "Silent Mode" or "Game Mode" in AV or IS)

   * (allways but specially for Games which doesn't need to much CPU Power).

...

But most important is:

> Stop watching porn while playing games. tongue

> If others in the family use Inet, specially if they are watching YouFube or downloading something, your Inet can be unstable too.

> If nothig helps, use a cable, instead WLAN.

> On the other hand, there's a tool you can use to see, what other wlans-channels are used around you. If there are some using the same, choose a free one. (read * below)

   *   Here is a good explanation and i think it could be very usefull for WLAN Users.

Different WLAN Modes have different standallone Channels. But it's in german.)

http://www.connect.de/ratgeber/wlan-kan … 44731.html

In short...

> For 11g use   1, 5, 9 or 13

> For 11n use   3 or 11

I guess, it's better to use only 20Mhz if you have in mixed-mode and 20/40Mhz problems. Remind that two different standards, ( 11g and 11n) could conduct instabilities too, because it's jumping between the modes. In this case it's better to set manually a 11g only or 11n only mode.

> Here the Wifi Analyzer for Android Phones

> Here WifiInfo View

...

It's not wrong, to restart from time to time modem and router.
