I can't download faster than 1 Mbps from torrents because it seems hard disk can't write that fast. This is an old computer for playing DOS games and for other experiments. Windows 98 with some tweaks is relatively fast. I'm testing Battlefield 1942, now.
Too bad they ended support with Windows XP, because it's a good OS when properly tweaked. The problem is support for new hardware and getting updated drivers. I still recommend it for personal use, though.

however it is strange how bad the link is , i mean 1 mbit is way beyond any hdd from that time.

CPU was the bottleneck, I could download maximum at 1,5 Megabytes per second (just forget I wrote Mbps)   and it hit 100% CPU resources.
Battlefield 1942 was unplayable, of course, it was a slideshow. Nevertheless, computer is snappy, I can open DPlus and foobar2000 right away.

I've collected some Windows XP registry tweaks, if anyone is interested in speeding up their Windows XP. Everything is commented, so you can select what you want and copy to a new .reg file.

The security updates that could be installed are intended for Windows Embedded and Windows Server 2003 customers and do not fully protect Windows XP customers. Windows XP customers also run a significant risk of functionality issues with their machines if they install these updates, as they are not tested against Windows XP.

I wonder if it's the truth, or just lies/semi-lies to deter people from using this, because it potentially will cost MS money due to more sticking with XP instead of upgrading. Could be cool to hear an XP/IT experts view on this.

I've collected some Windows XP registry tweaks, if anyone is interested in speeding up their Windows XP. Everything is commented, so you can select what you want and copy to a new .reg file.

XQSetup is a free very usefull tool.

It's free Prof. Version. Key is written on owners page.

(OS Win98 > Win7, but my recommmmendation is up to WinXP. On Windows 7 it's possible that not everything is working, as 7 changed after the support of this tool ended. I used it to on 7, but i know the tool and its functions since many years).
