SiMPLE BF1942 Knife Tournament

Sharpen your knives soldiers, take that rust off your knife blade and get ready for some throat cutting action. SiMPLE is organizing a knife tournament which will start in ~~9th of December~~ ~~23rd of November~~ 1st of December. Tournament is open to everyone, you will need to have Battlefield 1942 v1.61 and PunkBuster installed.
Tournament will consist of several groups of 6 players, depending on number of registrations, and the top 4 players of each group advance to the next stage. Single elimination matches will continue all the way to the final.
It will be a double-elimination tournament. A double-elimination tournament is broken into two sets of brackets, generally called the winner’s bracket and the loser’s bracket. Each player begins in the winner’s bracket, but with one loss, goes into a loser’s bracket, where he/she will have to play his/her way back.
The winner of knife duels will be the first to reach 9 kills. Knife duels will be played in Stalingrad and Berlin maps, eventually other classic maps too. Each match will certainly last no more than 15 minutes and will be played at suitable times for every player involved.

There will be seeded players according to skill rating and groups will be random. Registration can be here or by sending me a private message.

We need more events like this.

If you want to attract A LOT of people for future cups, think about some prizes for the winners, for example, free web/server hosting for a month. That will give more people incentive to join your event, as it is already a dying game.

Tournament matches should always be done weekends as well. More people are available then (i.e., BF Liga). It's also a good thing to advertise for your cup on Xfire.

Tournament is rescheduled to start two weeks earlier in 23rd of November. Duels will be played at any day, any time that you and your opponent agree to. You will have to play maximum 2 matches per week and each match should last around 10 to 15 minutes. I'm thinking 1st week will be played just 1st round of the groups, then 2nd week you'll have to play 2 rounds and 3rd week 2 more rounds to finish group stage. The top players will advance to elimination matches and expecting there are 4 groups, last 16 and last 8 matches will be played in 1 week. Semi finals and final will be played in the next week, so tournament will finish just before Christmas, 21st or 22nd of December. Suggestions and questions are welcome.

Yes, but most don't have Secret Weapons expansion pack installed. It is easier to get players by server-side modding Stalingrad and Berlin maps, then to tell them to download Secret Weapons or a custom knife map.

48 people? You're too optimistic for a first event. I think 20 to 24 players would be more realistic, but if you can pull off more, then props.
