No, there is a quite reasonable explanation. They got a Cyrillic keyboard and they thought that if they can change keyboard language, the text with Latin characters will be translated automatically.

No, there is a quite reasonable explanation. They got a Cyrillic keyboard and they thought that if they can change keyboard language, the text with Latin characters will be translated automatically.

The native keyboard layout is pretty handy. At least I can type faster than write in pen. And now, mr. Smartarse, if you suppose to match layouts, tell me please, how to match "я", "й", "ы", "у", "ь", "ж", "ш", "щ", "э" and "ъ"?

It's not possible to pronounce "й" and "ы" in English. "ю" is for "u" then, "у" sounds close but it's another letter. "э" sounds closer to "е" but not to "з".

i thought э was з (too small font), didn't even realize you got both э and e
anyway, you messed up badly, we got tons of stupid characters and yet we're pretty compatible with civilized world ;-)

It is not unusual. Something like this happened to a friend of mine. She was wondering why the heck the fuel gauge was saying that she was out fuel the next day when she filled up the tank one day earlier. First she asked her daughter if she took the car, which didn't make much sense of course. Some morons, who were waiting on the gas station, chased her to her home. After she was inside they started drilling a hole near the tank to get the fuel.
