just to explain, i am playing bf on hp laptop and conect it via PC/DVI out to my new Samsung (T23A350EW) 23inch full hd monitor . I tried to conect via HDMI cabel but bf will not even start. I will install this patch and see what happens. does it make difference that i play on other monitor than on one on laptop?

Yes, sure. You will get an appearance like in 4:3 or 5:4 screen but full widescreen and without any stretching or black lines on the sides of the screen. This patch affects everything except crosshair, map and bars. Don't forget to check readme.txt file.
P. S. I have got 27" widescreen monitor for Battlefield 1942, work and movies.

RamYam, two days earlier you said this widescreen fix makes your font "unreadable" but everything is okay. Here is a screenshot. Can you share your screenshot?

p.s. is there some more tweaking besides this patch installation?
unrelated - how to get "green" on minimap? only "greens" are buddies to me, not myself

ok, i took the screenshot using printscreen button. but looks im not computer skilled as u and didnt know how to get that screenshot converted to jpg file (or some pic format) so i pasted it in word doc. i would like to share this but do not know how to do it, but to send u e-mail with attached that doc file

Ram, are you kidding me? Could you share the source, not this small preview? But even this picture is quite enough to realize the aspect ratio. For example, look at my screenshot: 1920x1080 is 16:9 and 609x458 (your) is about 4:3. 4:3 is not a widescreen aspect ratio.

Please, check the Video.con in Modsf1942SettingsProfiles\%YourProfileName% again. This file should be read only.

I replaced exe file, it is set to read only and changed video.con to 1920*1080, do you think problem could be because laptop resolution is 1600*900 and monitor is 1920*1080? i connect those two with DVI cable. will check again. foooook, i will pay you airline ticket and bring u to configure this

Remote desktop connection via TeamViewer or Ammyy Admin is cheaper I guess.

I did it!!! patch from nameless is good (replace exe and edit video.con file) one more thing had to be done - since i run bf on laptop, but use external monitor (big one ) in windows "screen resolution" there are 4 options, of wihich first one (share dispalys) is default setup and that one is bad. I had to chose "set display nr.2 only" and then desktop is shown only on monitor (not on laptop display), which in effect has when running BF it is widescreen with new resolution (my case 1920*1080).

bought new pc and installed bf again
same monitor 24...I never had any probs with widescreen but now I have some probs...

I did every step as you advised... but i can't save the con file because of lack of admin rights ?!
But I am running windows as admin?! pls help because that it is annoying^^

Well, try to run notepad as an administrator and open those con-files. It might help.

It's not needed anymore, this version of patch is outdated. Download new one: http://team-simple.org/download/bf1942- … en-fix.zip
You'll be able to set resolution you need in game settings.

It has also an important bug fix to avoid the game freezing

This executable is safe to play in PunkBuster enabled

Mod.dll files.
