BF 1942 + DC Help Locked into Desert Shield

After about 10 years of not , Finally got BF1942 running W10 plays great , hooked my brother up as well. Loaded Combat, all went well.
Connected through Tailscale (VPN) tested w/Desert Shield, worked like a charm . Then realized no matter which map I choose it only loaded desert shield, it still plays fine in coop but only Desert Shield. Also tried BF1942 started to load then crashed to desk top . I would love to be able to coop the whole game . Any help out there in correcting this problem would be appreciated.
