It's amazing. You can maybe get distracted when the server is full, and maybe you did not realise about the tk. It can happen, we're human.
But seriously, 12v12 server.... 27 players online and a guy run over you with the jeep, or kill you shooting an enemy, and not a fucking "sry", "sr", "sorry"... I mean, I am not asking you to say "Is with my deepest sorrow that I regret for the TK". NO. JUST - SAY - FUCKING - SORRY.
It's a shame. So here is my idea: automatic kick if the server does not recognize you type "Sorry", "sr", "sry", or something like that.
Is this maybe too difficult to settle in the server? It makes your game experience a damn shame when you play with people who don't give a shit about it.

Nah, that won't work. In cramped fighting conditions, as you mentioned, you might not notice you have TKed.
And when there's a lot of killing going on the message gets lost too many times (sometimes it even can't be found browsing the console).
What if trolls and idiots jump into your fire - wanna say sorry to them then?
Another example: countless times players trying to enter the APC were run over because when position 2 is occupied
getting into the truck is only possible at the rear half of the vehicle.
etc., etc.
It would be way better to bring back the ftk and ptk commands.

Well, ftk and ptk were once active, but haven't been since months (years?), yet the server text still mentions them.
Some players are completely unaware of its existence, while others simply do not know how to use it properly.
It's a shame, really, 'cause it could be quite useful.
Nevertheless, it's a delicate matter, as like all useful things, it can be abused.
In any case, there is plenty of room for discussion.

Alright. This thread was originally about the Angry Djungle Dweller irrationally suggesting kick for not saying sorry.
Now, having a gaming session with well mannered players is something most of us most certainly do appreciate.
These ftk and ptk commands were meant to teach a lesson to those whose TKs are questionable.

They did work, Minnie, here on SiMPLE. The settings were like this:
TK = a few seconds spawn time added
TK + ftk = normal spawn time
TK + ptk = regular penalty + spawn time added from every victim who applies ptk
According to a BFSM control panel a player can also be kicked after receiving a certain number of ptks,
regardless of his score.
Ah, by the way, bf1942.eu shows all this as enabled on SiMPLE, if i'm not mistaken.
But i'm just a truck driver, if anyone knows better, please step forward and correct me, i'm fine with it.

Wow seems that I have missed the era of having a penalty for the team kills. With no admin around it promises to be a handful feature to punish disruptors.

Well, the disadvantages quickly became apparent.
Example #1
Player A, a normal and reasonable player accidentally TKs player B,
who is simply an idiot and jumped in front of Player A's gun.
Player A shouts at player B, because B is even more of an idiot and ptk'ed A, who has now 1 minute spawn time.
Example #2
Player C operates the APC and gets rammed by a car.
There's a bug every now and then which makes the truck driver responsible for the passengers.
The result is that every player inside the APC counts as TKed by the APC driver.
Not every victim does ftk in time and player C ends up with 2 and a half minutes spawn time.
The original idea behind ftk and ptk is good, but in practice it simply does not work.

Well, perhaps it's best they're not active anymore, more active and responsible admins is the key to the wealth of the server.
Still a useful feature. You can list the same "disadvantages" for getting minus score for tk's. Most of the time the player who makes the team kill is at fault. Period.

True. Probably one setting actually could work.

This way the TKers eventually can be gotten rid off without admin,
and the normal players, at least, can truly forgive each others accidents.
Sigh, let's pretend someone applies such things to SiMPLE nowadays,
let him/her also make a !sorry reduce the TKers' spawn time penalty a little.

This is great idea! Don't know if it's possible to negate minus score thought, but kicking for 3 ptk's (after actual teamkills) could very well work
