My question was in relation to Dima's reference to the west being the reason other places are poor. But hey let's reason, Africa must be a wonderful place since population growth after colonization started and the culture is preserved to an extent(all culture changes with time and other factors). Well, no. Africas fucked up due to basic preconditions, Guns Germs and Steel is a nice book on this topic.

Anyways, im sure we all can agree that the Tsar wasn't any better than a western monarch? And that Soviet didn't really encourage preserving native lifestyle by collectivization and displacement.

Well, it depends on when you think colonization began and whether you think the effect should come straight away.

Did the natives think displacement of other people to their land was a positive thing? I have not read much about this topic, but maybe you could shed more light on the collectivization in Siberia. One thing i do know is that it was used a lot of boarding schools wich surely impacted their culture alot. It is nice that the culture has been documentet but thats another thing. Again, this is nothing uniqe to Russia, most states are made this way, including Norway. So as to Dimas Statement of western civilication destroys all, sure, but so does all civilication. Even eastern, Tibet and China. The question is what is the ongoing war ending into. If Russia wins it will be annexed into Russia. If Ukraine wins they will keep their national identity and have closer ties to the EU, does this mean Ukraine will become a rich land? I doubt it will, atleast not overnight. But i think its better than the alternative.

I am me, but if ancestry is important on defining me im Sami, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, French, Danish, Dutch. The problem with looking at who lived in a place 11 000 years ago, is that there's no clear answer to it due to migration and intermixing.And the 37 760 is only those who bother of registering and meets the criterias ( they must speak Sami or had and parent og granparent who spoke sami).

Collectivisation is not much about the relocations, but creating new agricultural model - kholhoz. Which in itself is a continuation of the some ideas came from Russian Empire since reforms of Stolypin.
If interested by "more light on the collectivization", you can read "Dizzy with Success: Concerning Questions of the Collective-Farm Movement" by J.Stalin (March 2, 1930). Some citations:
- "Collective farms should not be established by force"
- "Can we say that the principle of voluntariness and taking into account local characteristics is not violated in a number of areas? No, this cannot be said, unfortunately."

Dunning-Kruger effect, in psychology, a cognitive bias whereby people with limited knowledge or competence in a given intellectual or social domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence in that domain relative to objective criteria or to the performance of their peers or of people in general.

The funny thing about Dunning-Kruger effect is that the effect itself is often misrepresented and the overconfidence of the low performers wasn't actually all that drastic. They also did not use complicated topics in the research, for example I might overestimate my ability to spot a pattern, but it's unlikely that I would do the same with quantum physics

While I'm not a psychologist I would wager that the effect is strongest with simple topics and maybe complex topics that have a lot of emotional baggage included. At the moment many people seem to be experts with the situations in Ukraine or Israel and yet probably would not claim to have extensive knowledge about statistics, politics, history and so on.
