Installation Help

Hi All,

I'm on latest Windows 11, using HP Omen laptop with RTX3070ti

I have a retail copy of BF1942 Complete Collection, which I've installed.

I downloaded the Simple patches. It wasn't clear which version I should install (Battlefield 1942 v1.61 Retail executable patched or Battlefield 1942 v1.612 Retail executable patched) so I tried 1.612 first, and then later the 1.61. Both exhibit the same issue, which is:

Game loads fine, but when changing settings there's not cursor indicating what's been selected) and clicking items that I think should have a dropdown selector (like graphics quality) doesn't show anything.

Choosing a map works fine.

Map loads, and I'm able to choose spawn point and my kit type (though, again, there's no indication of what I've clicked on).

Spawn countdown starts and MOST of the time, when the countdown is over, I see the landscape but it appears visually frozen. I can move around, run, shoot (and get audio of those actions), but the screen doesn't change.

Ideas?

Re: Installation Help

Hello,

Download d3d8.dll file from https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases and place it inside your Battlefield 1942 directory.

You should also use the latest BF1942 executable from https://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield … 2org-patch

Re: Installation Help

You are welcome. You could try running Battlefield 1942 from your integrated graphics card and check if those graphic glitches are gone. I guess newer GeForce graphic cards have issues running DirectX 8 based games. That d3d8.dll file makes it use DirectX 9.
