Yeah that installer isn't particularly good at the moment  we're going to need somebody with a lot more knowledge about installers to get it done  I have the utmost confidence in radiosmersh getting a proper one then done.

The funny thing is that the installer is an sfx, which is in fact a zip which can extract itself.
You can actually open the installer with WinRar/7Zip as if it were a zip.

So you can press update on the server  list from the original  fix  executable  and it  gives  you a list of servers ?

But if you press "Update" it won't work/the list will be blank.

Sorry, I checked just favorites Thought that it worked because I was sure it's impossible to have server list which can be refreshed but can't be updated

this hasn't been shared yet so I am sharing   the origin  version of the new  bf1942.exe
remember  this is only if you have a installation of  Battlefield 1942  from origin  not  original CD !

My server is using the new Linux binary and I've switched to the new client, and both are working perfectly. I've made announcements on my gaming site, on my server's Facebook page, on Twitter, and elsewhere.
