reoccuring annoyance (black screen, cant join game)

hello gents and ladies

just got a new monitor recently, i play the game on a macbook air with bootcamp, its running on win10 and ever since I started using this new monitor, every once in a while I get a black screen, either when I enter the game or when the map changes.

I have the settings on 1920 1080 32 60, the monitor can do 144 hz but my mac only 60 so I lowered it, and it seems to help, but I still get this black screen, sometimes it takes many attempts to get into the game.. its a little strange to me that it happens every once in a while and not constantly.
does anyone have an idea of what could be the problem?
ideas are very much welcomed and appreciated.
added picture to give you an idea of what I mean, this is the black sceen I get, I can alt+tab out of it only if I have another window open, hence the paint.
ps directplay is activated.

Do you have 800x600 Resolution in Monitor Settings? (If not add it).

Perhaps you can try run the game only on external Monitor?

hi arkos, yes I do have 800x600 available in settings
when I play I only play with the external monitor, my laptop is with black screen..
