bf1942 freezes after i press esc when playing on a map

so i got bf1942 to run and every time when i load up a map and then press esc to change some settings the game freezes and is stuck showing the last frame in the map before i pressed esc

Can be the lack of compatibility mode "Run as admin" for "Blackscreen exe" in the MainGameFolder.

yes i can change the settings but when i first launched the game after installing it wouldnt launch so i installed a patch that was posted on this website

one simple solution is to learn the console commands for the settings you want to change. easy fix with no fixing. just go around the problem.

i learn 2 tings in the army. if it freezes, put on clothes. if it's warm, take of clothes

Perhaps you can try installing the game in another folder then "Program Files", (as example C:\Games\ ...). (Program Files is restricted Zone).

Then Check Documents Folder for "Battlefield 1942" Folder and delete that.

I guess you allready activated DirectPlay in Windows 10. (Optional Features)

yeah i can play till i press escape and i uninstalled the game and installed it once again and of course was greeted with no changes

alright i found something
someone else has the same problem that i have and they installed the same patch that i did
so ill try to use a different patch for bf1942 and see if the game launches and doesnt freeze mid game when i press esc

ive installed the patch ran the game and works perfectly without any problems
