BF1942's 20th Anniversary

Next September, it will be BF1942's 20th anniversary. I think it is an occasion for EA to promote the game for free as they did in 2012 on Origin. They could also simply put an announcement on their website without providing free copies of the game at all.

So what do you guys think? Will the game be re-released on Origin for free for a limited period of time starting September 2022, or will it simply vanish into obscurity? I'm looking forward to a fresh influx of players, with a portion of them hopefully staying for a few more years.

More players means not more fun.

Between the last 2 months sometimes the low level of gameplay was exhausting.

Re: BF1942's 20th Anniversary

Most new players these days seem to love team killing, stealing vehicles and wounding teammates, TK for planes and general disruptive behavior.

I really miss those pre-2019 days with very low number of trolls.  Now I can't have even a single round without being tked by a troll.

There's zero reason for them to do anything for the 20th anniversary unless they do a full remaster with new engine, but thats wishful thinking.

Re: BF1942's 20th Anniversary

I would prefer that EA/DICE will release in it's entirety, the source code of Refractor engine to public domain just like other video game publishers like id Software's Quake and Epic Games' Unreal engine.

Yeah that would be awesome but it will probably never happen.
