ill start with
Linux [CentOS]

yum update << updating all programs installed
yum install program_name << installing programs [programs name are not allowed to be spaced Example is down]
yum install httpd php mysql mysql_server << Spaces are only for another programs to be installed
yum uninstall httpd php mysql mysql_server << Uninstalling programs installed up there ^^

in windows the cmd is the easyiest way to ping

ping ip_address/domain

example
ping team-simple.org
