3 points for taking an undefended flag as opposed to 1 point for making a kill. Can this arrangement be altered so it's less of a racing game.

This is for CTF, the correct values for an unmodded Conquest server should be:

ScoreManager.capture 10

Where attack is the amount of points given when a player captures a control point. Defence and capture values are ignored in Conquest and only work in CTF.
Me dont like this either. It means silly buggers running to grey flags, just to collect points. It ruins game play.
Really , the guy who greyed and fought for flag deserves points, most others are just flag whores.
It is dumb, stupid as it works against your own team.
The 5 or 6 guys flag whoring, should really advance towards other flags and of course try kill enemy instead of waiting around, packed together by grey flag.
This is also stupid cause they could all die with nade or shell.
I think it should be points to the first guy to grey the flag if it then goes on to be captured.
The others may not be running to the flag to score some cheap points but consolidate the capture and wipe out any resistance.
Hard to tell which players are whoring and which are supporting in these instances.

Maybe just 2 points for taking a flag could be fair.
2 for a flag 1 for a kill would be fairer, but to stop the flag mobbing by team mates 1 point for a flag and 1 for a kill might encourage some of them to abandon a feed at the flag points trough and seek out enemies for kills.
I believe in BF Vietnam if you gray an enemy flag you get a point and then another if you capture it for your team.. Seems this is what some are suggesting but I don't think it is possible in 1942.
I didn't realize that (Phantom), it's more equitable. Any modders out there know if this can be done with BF1942?
Well I have just noticed Simple Tanks a Lot Aberdeen server seems to have been adjusted so that only 1 point is awarded for a flag capture. Whoever did it thank you. This should make Tanks a Lot Aberdeen a bit more interesting. As for other maps that are not tank vs tank based like Aberdeen is, can this or should it be implemented and to what degree? I play almost exclusively Aberdeen since the map existed, so my opinion on changes to the points/flags system of infantry maps may not be as valid as some of you out there who are infantry veterans. I do like {Phantom}'s mention of BF Vietnam awarding 1 point for greying a flag and a further point for capture. It's a shame it's not an option on BF1942 as that would make for more dynamics for specific maps. Any thoughts on other maps seeing similar changes?
I would prefer going back to 2 points per flag but not to 3 per flag. 3 points does make flag capture for points too attractive. Either way the pileups of teammates around the flags might be reduced with 1 or 2 for the capture. There will still be lots of flag runners, though.
On the other hand, flags on Aberdeen provide tanks and it's a tank map. Hold no flags and you play at a severe disadvantage. That's sort of what Sepp is saying about infantry maps but too few points for flags will turn tanks a lot into Tank Arena. Nobody wants that (or at least I don't)
I agree 2 points is not over generous and perhaps 1 point is too little. Shall we see how it works out with some time and feedback on the matter before it's finalised?
