Btw. Wather is the best protection against radiation. They use it also as protection against solar waves in spacestations.

I remember a case, (i saw a documentation), where the Amis thought, small nukes would be a perfect solution for the building industry to dig out holes.

The soviets answered later with the Zar-Bomb. But in the last moment, Sacharow imagined how dangerous it is and reduced the construction to the half. The bomb was even then 4000 times stronger then the Hiroshima bomb.

The mushroom cloud was 65km high, buildings were destroyed in 100km distance and windows bursted 500km away.

And they made the same mistake. The fallout went in the other direction. Some people lost their hairs over night.
