Black screen -freeze

Sunday my game worked fine but today I started the game up, I clicked on a server to join and my screen immediately turns black.
I closed it in task management and from that moment on everytime I click on my shortcut (or exe.file) it doesn't start up at all anymore, immediately a black screen and I can only close it through task management.

My other game (Assasins Creed) still works fine so it has nothing to do with the GPU.

I tried several things, downgrading nvidia drivers, the +restart 1 thingy, etc etc.
Sunday night I had a windows update so I thought that might be causing it but a system restore also didn't help.

Should I reinstall it or does anyone has a clue what's causing this?

maybe u misplaced a map? because i had that problem also with a winrar file that was placed in there. try it mate

i had a similar problem, after i downloaded miniimage CD, mount the image and run ones the game-the problem was solved(cracked .exe file didnt helped in my case)

@s[sk]: the background sound (TS) was still ok.

@joint: I'll try to mount the image again.
Still strange that everything worked fine one day (besides the other random black screens > when not gaming) and the next day it's a big mess.

I had same problem I just hit escape to go out game then esc to go back in and it was fine,the problem has disappeared now

Re-install didn't help, nor did using an image instead of no cd crack.

It's something with my old settings and it think the video.con file
Tried it with unedited settings and it's working now.

weird, why reinstall didnt help, after reinstall all ingame seting should be set by default(unedited)?
what i missed?

I reinstalled everything but immediately copied my old settings without trying with the newly installed settings.

Game is starting now but atm I'm getting 'date differs from server' when trying to connect to SImple.
Getting there though :-)

maybe new game does not patched to 1.61 version?
