Wow linux on mobile phones!!
Linux on Galaxy is made even more powerful because it is DeX-enabled, giving developers the ability to create content on a large screen, powered only by their mobile device. This represents a significant step forward for software developers, who can now set up a fully functional development environment with all the advantages of a desktop setting that is accessible anytime, anywhere. Samsung Linux on Galaxy is still a work in progress. If you are interested in getting an early notification of availability, then please sign up at http://seap.samsung.com/linux-on-galaxy

True... when u install total commander on android and study the file system a bit you will find it is linux based.
Or when u go into the terminal (command prompt) of your android phone you will find the linux commands to all be there (and u can add ur own).
Termux is an terminal tool for android: https://termux.com/
The only problem with android is that it is not as open as linux due to commercial wishes of google. Same thing is with the privacy issue. You will need real linux to be able to push out big brother is watching you.
(they still be watching by your ISP or windows in your house, depends on the weather and how interesting you are)

As far as I have read, with every new Android version more and more Google apps become closed source and only the core is still open source, which is by itself useless. I am not an expert though but considering this is a multi billion dollar corporation, it would make sense not to have any competition in this field. So maybe linux based in its origin but certainly not truly open source.
