Well, it seems at -=Ax=- was saying, that our beloved game was on life support. So one day, after a slew of Windows 7 Updates (I refuse to go higher with that crap of an OS) I cannot launch my game anymore, nor 2142 for that matter. This is a direct result of recent updates to Win7, and nothing else. Has anyone else run into this? It could just be me, but I don't think so. I have loaded the game on a laptop without updates and it works just fine. Now I'm interested in running a Linux server on my own with the support of SiMPLE and/or -=Ax=-. Black mamba or tuia, and anyone else feel free to reach out if this sounds like a cool idea.
Sincerely, PizzatheHut.
hey y'all, the game works fine for me (as I stoped the win7 updates few weeks ago, thank goodness).
BTW: utorrent still wont work, now I highly suspect its the win updates.
Is it the dreaded KB3086255 update problem?
will uninstalling this help bro ?
Is it the dreaded KB3086255 update problem?
Yeah, that may be the exact update but I can't be sure. Installing Vanilla Win7 and it works fine. My problem is I'm entirely on Ubuntu 16.04 now, so is anyone else running BF from linux?
BEWARE: If you're running Win7 and the game works, stop updating the OS. It looks like they're trying to push people over to 10. Not that the game would work in 10 anyway, but I can't say that for sure.

Not sure Windows updates can affect Battlefield 1942. I think it's your video card drivers update or something else.
Are you sure about that Name?

The game works fine in 10 been using it for some months now.
To fix your game in 7 try this:
Open a command prompt with Admin access and then type the following commands pressing ENTER after each one:
sc config secdrv start= demand
sc start secdrv
Definitely not a graphics card issue. Same setup, with and without updates. Without it works and with all latest it does not. It simply fails to launch. Nothing changed originally when the problem began except Windows updates and the AMD drivers were the latest.
I highly suspect that windows updates are the culprits, because of them I'm unable to start any torrent clients. So I stopped the updates.
Must be the same case with our game, true dat : http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/mic … f-windows/
Some no CD cracks get passed this issue by removing the Safedisk, that is how the crack works.
If you removed your CD crack, presuming you still had your disks, you would find you have the same issue with the KB3086255 update.
I think I have nocd crack. Because since I couldn't install it from disks, I downloaded the torrent Tuia made. So I assume it has it.
"Older" games work on here though. I just tested FEAR, Dead Space, Postal 2, Half-life 2/orange box, and Doom 3. They all worked fine.

Thanks, pretty interesting article. Didn't know it.

Yes, but actual modded Bf1942 doesn't use any protection.
(Ok this was allready answered... I'm too slow once again! )

You are most welcome

This is not a problem. I run Ubuntu with CrossOver Linux, game works great. Needs a couple of tweaks to fix the sound.
