Step by step patch install after fresh dl of retail 42, RR, and SW?

As above.  What all do I need after a fresh install of CD version?  Windows 7 64.

Also just did a factory reset and actually got my Windows updates current.

This here. It's Bf1942, RtR and Secret Weapons. Patches should be inside and the AfterGamespyFix too, (incl. Widescreen ability).

If you have windows update KB3086255 you will probably run into problems.  You can chose to remove the update completely or restart the safedisk service.

Simply open a command prompt with admin access and type the following line hitting enter after each line.

sc config secdrv start= demand
sc start secdrv

If you have completely reinstalled the game from CD you may also need to install the official EA patches 1.619 and 1.619b, I have known this to cause some issues before.

Ok but it came up a while ago after a player had installed from CD's and by adding the official patches fixed the problem he was having, this was after installing the GameSpy patch.

They may or may not be required but the 1.619 contained a number of map updates which the CD version will not have. I f you get a "data differs from server" error then that will be why.

Thanks for the replies.  Never used torrent?  Looks like I have to download torrent and then the file?  Does it install automatically?

Link to torrent would not open.  Searched torrent battlefield 1942 sent me to a skidrow download.  Had to download utorrent first then a rar file extractor which asked for a password.  Per the skidrow instructions I went to an uploadsnack site where it wanted to to do a survey and go through page after page of ad crap to "unlock the secret password".  Guess I'll reload the cd version then the 1.6.19 patch and then the gamespy patch next and see what happens.

You can download winrar from those who made it, after the trial period it still works, but nags a bit before it start (waiting time) (used to be anyway)

If you are going to use the CD version don't forget the add on patch 1.619b, very small patch file.
I rebuilt my install recently like this to fix a problem with connecting to FRA server and it works like a charm now

Bud - does the trial period ever run out, I have been waiting years for it to stop working

Got it.  Installed 42, RR, and SW.  1.6.19 to b then gamespy patch.  Seems to be working.  Thanx for the input.
